I read something on reddit about the LTE modem in n5 being a newer design that is actually more power efficient using LTE than HSDPA (3g)

http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1...ah_between_the/ http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?p=35684621 can't find the exact url for it, but it's somewhere between the lines there from what i get N5 uses same LTE chip as 5s, so we can expect similar LTE efficiency EDIT: http://gigaom.com/2013/11/01/the-nexus-5-w...gaOM%3A+Tech%29 that's the new chip by Qualcomm that is supposedly more efficient, Brian from anandtech tweeted about it This post has been edited by Tsukiyomi001: Nov 4 2013, 01:21 AM |

http://www.theverge.com/2013/11/4/5062724/...-nexus-5-review the verge review is out summary: inconsistent battery inconsistent + slow camera chrome page buffereing issues 8/10 score i have to disagree with their battery test, where they loop a video on full brightness till the phone dies. Different phones have different maximum brightness, it is no use comparing battery lifes between phones if u're comparing them at different brightness. I find the battery test where the set the phones to the same brightness to conduct the test more representative of their battery lives. also, in the verge video review where they showed off the chrome stuttering issue, that is the first time the page gets loaded, and the reviewer scrolls past the bottom, and the screen becomes blank for a while before showing anything. What I think happens is: The browser have yet to load those parts of the page and is downloading data from the internet. I think if you want to test for scroll stutter, you will have to load everything beforehand and then scroll through them to check for stutters instead of checking on the first load where the page is still loading. all in all, one of the first full review by a reknown site albeit one that I thnk could have been better with the choice of words and methods |

QUOTE(pu27 @ Nov 5 2013, 06:53 PM) 1st. You have to register with a forwarding agent to get a local delivery address, it's free. These forwarding agents will ship to you after your stuff reached that address(their warehouse actually). For japan, there's Tenso. For Australia, I've not found one after years of searching(ok, i'm exaggerating). Let me know too if you found 1. thanks for the pointers 2nd. Go to your bank online or call or walk in to branch to change your card's billing address to that given local delivery address. Also ask them to send all the bills or statements of your card to your email ONLY so your banking details wont be sent to that address. 3rd Now you're good to go. |

QUOTE(Ah hao @ Nov 5 2013, 11:11 PM) i will go to japan next weekend, do google play have physical store in osaka or kyoto and have ready stock availability ? don't think so, at least I've never heard of oneJapan phone market is quite similar to US, most phones are bought through contracts so what I think you can do is order online now, ask them to ship to the place u'll be staying, pick it up and bring it back when you come home ps: if you do that, can I tumpang? QUOTE(C-Note @ Nov 5 2013, 11:59 PM) in very very simple terms, YES, in slightly complicated terms, nexus is the flavour of android by Google, just like TouchWiz is a flavour of android by Samsung and Sense is a flavour of android by HTC. Thing is, almost every hp manufacture is using google's app, so a lot of them have google's apps side by side their own app. One example of android without google's app is Amazon's Kindle, and also the China android phones. Android in the purest (most bland) flavour doesn't have playstore, maps, youtube and all the other google apps. |
