Myself is looking for XBox 360 Kinect. Already done few surveys here in Penang (Bukit Jambul, Gurney & Prangin Mall).

* Price range around 13xx to 15xx which includes:
1. XBox with Kinect
2. 1 original joystick (15xx got 2 original joysticks)
3. 500gb to 1tb hard drive.
4. AVI cable.

is the price reasonable. also want to ask regarding warranty. how did the warranty covers? Different shop with different warranty periods. Some shop got 2 weeks while some said 1 year.

* As setup for TV. I will need to buy a TV as well. What TV will be nice for XBOX. Do some google for Plasma vs LED TV. Some said Plasma while some said go for LED. Here got selling RM1299 for Samsung 42 inches Plasma TV, n RM890 for Samsung 32 LED TV with 5 star energy saving.

* did using HDMI cable will improve gaming experience compared to using AV cable.

* some people said need to buy "special lense" to play kinect in doors? I tried to google it but didnt found anything.

* Any other things i need to look for when purchasing this console?

Only original (not modified) consoles covered with one year warranty from Microsoft. Modified consoles can have mercy from the shop. You get what you paid for. Really.

Xbox works with any kind of TV now day. See your budget.

Advantage of HDMI over AV cable is that you do not need to plug in different cable for the audio since HDMI carry both video and audio signal in one cable. Otherwise, the differences won't be noticeable.

What you're looking for is the NyKo Zoom for Kinect. That thing reduce the space requirement for Kinect by 40% IINM. Some says that thing damages the Kinect lense, but I can't confirm as I didn't use it.

Yes, go buy original and save you lots of hassles down the road.

Actually, if you're using an av cable (composite-yellow, white and red) maximum resolution in 480i. Yeah when xbox 360s were first released HDTVs were not that common. HDMI will allow for full HD resolutions.

Also, go original. You don't need to get 100s of pirated games to get the most value from your purchase. And please do not use these forums to get tech support if you do decide to get a modded xbox.

Really? I didn't notice that though. Last time I brought the Xbox to a hotel and just plug the AV cable, can't tell the difference. Looks the same to me.

Earlier package comes with component cable, later starting from Xbox 360 Elite (Black) they only bundle with composite cable.

Thx for the input. All the shop I go didnt sell unmodded xbox. all already modded.

Can I play original games with a modded xbox using original cds, as I prefer to play online.

Also I prefer to use steam to buy games.

If that's the case, buy from trusted seller in the forum such as pbbseller.

You can play original discs with the modified console but you can't go online with it.

You can't use Steam to buy Xbox 360 games. It have it's own marketplace to buy games, though the prices are nowhere near to what Steam have to offer.

I think they are, although it doesn't take a rocket scientists to know that people like cheap games. The cleverest thing that Steam has done is getting people to buy games just because they are cheap even if they never actually play it.

Here's hoping that some of it trickles down to the xbox marketplace.

Yeah, just read about that few hours ago. Speaking of Steam, even though (probably) had nothing with it, anyone bought the latest Humble Origin Bundle? For around $4.7+ you can get EA games including BF3.

Steam is good. Bought plenty of original pc games through it with a cheap price. Too bad got none for xbox.
