hypptv charges are packaged inside, cannot detach, whether u use or not.

but u can downgrade to diff package, Unifi Lite where u need not pay for hypptv, no STB given.

hypptv everywhere and astrogo are 2 apps that do not work on many boxes.

many still think it is about "root-unroot" which is a myth.

it really is an app-firmware compatibility issue.

the commonly known boxes that can work with those 2 apps are minix, shield and mibox int'l.

shield and mibox intl work becos they run on google androidtv, compatible with the apps.

smart tv's (sony's and sharp's) that run on androidtv will also work.

so, if u r planning to buy a new tv, can consider that.
and u r probably right - it is possible hypptv and astro will make it even more difficult with future app versions.

motive is likely to limit these apps to handheld devices.
