Well totally gimmicky....the only raison d'etre for this device is the huge screen.

Bro, this thing doesn't have an active digitizer. I was excited before launch that despite the lack of it, it could handle writing/scribbling properly. Apparently it doesn't, and after some testing myself, I just shrugged and moved on, although I still like it simply for its size.

At best, the XZU screen is one small notch up from your standard capacitive screen, and won't take any kind of writing properly. I would say perhaps the correct term may be "stroke registration" since it performs very poorly unless you write slowly.

The technologies are TOTALLY different. S pen will never work on anything else other than another Wacom device.

Stroke registration is difficult as well right? The stroke does not follow your pencil immediately, so you have to draw/write slowly.

then just get OMAP4430 with 512Mb....fast enough. No need for S1000 with 4Gb RAM.

A phone's looks are completely non-functional (except for bizarre ones). Since modern phones tend towards anorexia, a proper casing is a necessity.

In some cases the phone is more powerful especially when they have custom functions in the SoC for video decoding and/or 3d performance.

Agreed. Fair statements. I admire the Sony 6.44" triluminous screen, which Samsung doesn't have. Samsung does have some good usability enhancements in their TW, and not forgetting the active digitizer in the Note family.

Apparently that is how the Japanese telco systems work. You have to be on their network to update. Be thankful we don't have it like this here.

IMHO, handwriting on this Xperia is just a gimmick and totally sucks. Otherwise great as a media consumption device.
