TSER stands for Total Solar Enery Rejection. It is an accurate way to determine the heat rejection performance. The higher the TSER the better the heat rejection.

Few variables are contributed to the calculation of TSER.

1) The VLT (visible light transmitted). The lower the VLT, the darker the film, the higher the TSER.

2) The IRR (infrared rejection). The higher the IRR, the better the heat rejection, the higher the TSER.

3) The VLR (visible light reflection). The more reflective the film is, the higher the TSER.

Personally, I would advise to pay more attention on the IRR. Good quality films are developed in a way to reject INFRARED, which is the main cause of heat.

Dark films don't necessarily have good TSER or heat rejection. Darker films with low quality material and low IRR will contribute to a low TSER. The best TSER films with over 80% has got to be very dark (10-15% VLT) and comes with good IRR (80-95%)

With the implied JPJ rules in Malaysia, films with 60%++ TSER are considered very decent. Any TSER above 70% would be considered agaisnt the JPJ rules.
