Ball has some model/series is on-par if not exceed some highly advertised / promoted brand.

If u r not so into brand oriented buyer, Ball has few to offer.

Of course, this is again a very personal view.

I love to have Blancpain, AP or Rolex, but is out of my reach today, maybe in future i hope i could hv 1.

Watch is like art...
Different owner perceive it differently in terms of value and recognition.

BALL has been in the industry for some time now.

The buyer / owner might need to know what exactly he / she wanted from the timepiece

Deciding between two models now... the Ohio Moonphase and Engineer II Chronometer Red Label (gosh what a long name)

Moonphase I feel the watch is abit small (40mm)... and doesn't really stand out. Red Label is bigger (43mm) but received some comments saying it is too old fashioned / uncle looking...

What do you guys think?

How long have you had your Ball? Are your tubes still bright? I've had mine since 2007, the tubes almost no power already.

Anyone have any idea how much it'll cost to recharge (can it even be done?) or change it?

replacing the tubes too expensive...around rm40 each...if ur watch got like 50 tubes...u can go cry.
logically should be cheaper and also easier to just change to new dial...but still rm1k+.

With such price, you can never get Omega or Tag brand new with cosc certified. Oris maybe yes but again not GMT.

This Ball is COSC certified if not mistaken.

I prefer BALL over Oris.

i hope it is not going to popular brand, my humble BALL can be exclusive further.

in fact, BALL is much appreciated by watch enthusiast. Layman probably will skip. It is a value buy but "face value" is bad.

if look at BALL Trainmaster 120 series, it is amazing piece. It is really "affordable" if you are looking for a solid 18k case watch.

i will still recommend BALL Watch if someone seek my opinion.

Ahhh exactly! At first my mind keep pop up about the "face value" thingy.

But after research and seek advice, my thought now is that I can have other big brand, but ball is a must to add in collection. laugh.gif

Do we need the cosc cert? I tot certified by model, not individual watch.

Any if you engrave yr name on the back case?
*
Please go back to Retailer and ask for the certificate. Every COSC certified watch comes with paper.

Certificate will indicate model & serial #.

I will snap a photo tonite. Maybe tat GUY doesn't know what COSC certificate all about.

And i don't think BALL changed its policy for COSC certified watch.

Best is you can call BALL Malaysia office to verify.

Nothing wrong with BALL watches, so is your friend too.

Everyone perceive brand differently, some love luxury brand, some love established brand, some will prefer value for money brand, some will love micro brand.

There is nothing wrong at all. Afterall, all watches tell the same time in the end.

I have checked in the weekend, to have cosc cert, dual time zone gmt, extra bezel for second time zone, anti magnatic and 300m water resistance, only Brietling. Price after discount 10k+ anyway no H3 gas tube.

All other brand to have a full spec like aero gmt are over 30k after discount.
Other brand with full spec like aero gmt but without gas tube still able to get from 25k after discount.
Other brand with certain spec only like without anti magnatic or no cosc certified or no extra bezel for second time zone and definitely without gas tube, can get at 10k - 15k after discount.

I guess most Malaysian prefer brand than spec? hmm.gif

Besides the Breitling, the nearest possible will be Omega AT Master Co-Axial. but is RM17,000 onwards. Omega trying to move up some of its affordable watch higher & higher. Sad.

I think I saw that too, master co-axial blue dial, superb beautiful, forgotten the exact price, about 13k+ after discount, they got another one James Bond version for this model right.

Yup, more roadshow, advertisement, marketing & etc. Someone has to pay for it.

I got my Magnate GMT for RM6,000 last time which i think is really a good buy. Accuracy is perfect, within COSC parameter.

Yes, Bond is limited edition with fancy blue texture dial. unique design rotor. RM23,000 + being a LE, usually no discount.

If you wish to hv Omega, the normal edition will be a good investment. I had my LE moonwatch, so need to think more on next Omega.

Ya Its value for money, the most fun part is when in ktv room with all light off and after few minutes the only light u can see is the tubes from your ball watch

Once your eyes get used to the dark you will see the tubes like really glow in the dark and all my friend will ask "why your watch so bright 1"

I will just whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif

Ball have not done aggressive advertisement like Tag / Oris / Omega Etc brands, so when your wear Ball watches some people might not even know what watch you are wearing.

Once Ball started with more and more advertisement then the brand will get more expensive due to more people knowing the brand.

Its just like Tag Heuer when you tell the name all people know, its all due to advertisement.

The best thing i like is the Folding Buckle, its more easy to take off my watch (no fingernail damage here) tongue.gif

Just a word on the ball aero GMT dials.

Reviews on watch u seek mentioned that the inner hour hand is quarter inch too short.

The regular hand covers it.

I think this inner GMT hand is designed to point to the inner 0-24 numbers. Use that as GMT time, it remains the same wherever you go, no adjustment needed.

The regular hour hand should be your home country. That also no adjustment needed.

The rotating bezel can easily be adjusted to any destination city time zone. You use the inner hour hand to read that.

I think this is ingenious as I don't have to fumble with the knob ever!

Am I doing it right?

Looks like it use curve spring bar design. If so, aftermarket strap is not workable. Hv to order from AD / Ball.

looks almost straight to me.
the shadow of case on strap makes it look more curved than it really is.

anyway, curved end strap doesn't necessarily mean curved bars.
there are straps made with curved ends and uses normal bars like from hirsch.

but yea, if it's factory strap, obviously best place is ask Ball Malaysia.

Try look at this if red hand is your preference. Miles cheaper than Rolex but good quality for its price.

don't feel so sad or regret due to isolated case, BALL timepiece still rocks in my opinion.

Ya the website response is very fast actually. The service center representative called within 5mins after the fb representative replied.
Overall they are quite reasonable and professional. Just that now I doubt they have good technicians to do the jobs. They have 2 technicians only. So I might opt for the other technician for this time.

Will bring in the piece for them to inspect. They agreed can change whole new piece if i require them. They even agree to my request to do any dismantling in front of me. so..will see later this week, when i have time to go over.

Well for Ball watch owners, according to the technician, mechanical watches needs to be serviced every 3years. Recommended.
First 3years servicing is FOC, but need to put there 1month.

They will dismantle everything, clean, oil them and put back in. This will increase the accuracy of the watch. To my surprise, ball mechanical watch generally have +/-10sec a day. First time owning a mechanical watch. tongue.gif

Some series with the accuracy cert, has higher accuracy, -4 +6sec/day (if not mistaken). After doin some research, actually there are ways to slow down or make your watch faster, while you are asleep. brows.gif

Finally, after 5 years of working, i have got myself the 1st Ball watch. I have always wanted to own a Ball watch, I could afford it, but the struggle is to convince myself to spend on something which is more of desire rather than necessity.
I have purchaae the Ball Marvelight from the Ball Concept store in One Utama. Here are the photos:

worse thing is, i asked them to service the watch. When i collect it, there are dust inside the watch face, and they scratched the case back.

They can't even open the watch properly. now complaint to HK office. god knows what damage they made on my movement.

I have one seldom use Ball Fireman with warranty 5 years from Sept 2017. Very little wrist time. RRP of this watch is RM12,350 but offer me your price.

Comes with everything as retails including box, manual and warranty card.

Got a Engineer II. Quite decent watch for the price. Good thing is Ball offers big discounts to dealers up to 70%, bad thing is no 2nd hand value. 10k watch can get for rm3k brand new, and 1k+-2k+ 2nd hand value.

1 Utama showroom now got 25% disc + 6% gst discount for all models for short period as new company taking over.

If you want even cheaper can look out Ebay sellers, some of them only start at USD$1 auction sometimes can get below USD$600 final price.

I put mine up for sale also at RM1 starting price. Bought a Tudor after that so got too many white face dials.

Hmm i saw this too smile.gif
What about quality..just briefly read some forums.. on quality issue.. difficult to get service or fixing takes a long time. Also seems the second hand value is quite low. I think its quite underrated and dont appear in many reviews.

Never own one so don't know about the quality.. just visit any AD and try on.. if you love it then buy..

Are you try to become a collector or just want to have one perfect watch?

I got this Navigator II Engineer last month, after pre-order in early January this year. I chose number 880, so that the engraving shows 0880/1000. All the other '88' number are taken. Had the bracelet adjusted at Ball shop in Pavillion KL. Feels nice and only needs adjustment once a month ( it shows about a minute fast per month). This is 40mm, with hindsight, I should have chosen the 43mm. I fits my wrist better, I think.

How much is the tax for pre order? I'm thinking about buying another Ball.

I can't remember the actual amount but when I bought my Steinhart last month, customs taxed me about 5% of the actual amount. According to them, if it costs above US$500 or equivalent, then they will tax 5%.

To be honest the blue dial looks so much better than the pictures give it credit. It's pretty hard to find though.

Never go there before but you can give it a try. Normally when a new model coming out (limited 1000 pieces), they have pre-order price which can be up to 45% OFF depending on models. I can only assume they also bought in as distributor price or pre-order price. Otherwise no hope getting discount eh.

Got mine during pre-order directly from Ball website. Perhaps you can try the new model which is probably having pre-order sales ?

just saw your post..

i started a thread about it asking : Does the thermometer check the surrounding temperature? Or it is too close to the skin that it will detect one's body temperature instead? Like some GShock triple sensor i have, one need to remove from your wrist and let it rest for 30mins if you want to use the barometer to check for surrounding temperature.

I just bought the (first edition?) Fireman Night Train pre owned because i used to have one, was stolen when my house was broken into in 2010.

Sort like a replacement for my lost watch 10 years ago. Felt even better now that i know it was discontinued years ago. Rasa macam limited edition pulak although I'm sure there's thousands out there.

Sent it to TSC for service and check up 2 days ago but still have yet to receive quotation. Do anybody know how long fir quotation and how long for servicing usually. Lupa tanya that day as I was rushing.

My Ball (still singular) look like this.

Hi this is my aero gmt ii, which bought in Jan 2019.

The outside bezel broke and I had to pay 750 for this.

you need to check with Ball Watch AD for more details. normal 5 years service probably RM1000 ++

am just speculating though.

Does anyone know where can I find the Trainmaster Moonphase ? I searched online and Watatime has it listed at RM8450. Wondering how much discount will the shops give?

I sent mine to service and polish, near to 1.2k. Just normal movement without chronograph. It took more than 2 months.

Try watatime i think they're AD for ball. unfortunately a lot of watch talks have moved to facebook or instagram. And the ball brand has not gain much traction with that price point (5-8K). At this price point, people usually go for the Tissot PRX, going for microbrands such as Baltic. and many more optons out there

20% off is the standard discount.. though it is possible to get a bit more than that if you negotiate further.. 30% off for older models.

This surely is a quiet group.

I just sent my Ball Fireman Ionosphere chronograph for servicing at AIA Central (x-Standard Chartered). Standard price for servicing RM2030 mega_shok.gif
Waiting time 1~3 months. Bought it 11 years ago for RM6k. Servicing is a third of the purchase price.

Average service price RM200 per year, so OK laaa but I wear it probably 2weeks every 3 months rotation.
