Not taking away Stephano's legacy, but he never had the highest win rate against Koreans since the release of HotS.

Taken from the TeamLiquid Player Database:

vs win-loss
duckdeok 0-2
Stardust 1-2
MC 2-0
Taeja 0-2
Jaedong 0-2
Hyun 0-2
TheSTC 2-1
Alive 0-2
MVP 1-4
ForGG 3-1
Coca 0-2
Last 0-3

Total 9-23 (28.13%)

Overall (including games vs non-Koreans) during HotS, he was 63-54 (53.85%). Somewhat satisfactory, since HotS has only been out for 5 months.

His WoL play was better. He went 857-421 (67.06%) overall, winning himself first place finishes in premiere events and more than USD 234,000 in prize money (4th overall after MVP, MC and Nestea, and the highest among non-Koreans).

When I have time I'll nitpick his WoL record vs Koreans.

Anyways, I commend his decision to leave the game and go to medical school. He was a good player, and nothing more, so I doubt he'd find work as a caster if he decided to stay in eSports. His casting during one of the Home Story Cups was meh. I hope he becomes a good doctor, and with how amazing healthcare is in France, he'll go a long way.

I concur.

Stephano's best days were back in WoL. When Broodlord-Infestor was all the rage and almost unbeatable (even before the Ghost's Snipe ability was nerfed, and even against the Archon Toilet).

On another note, Thorzain will also go into semi-retirement to go back to medical school as well. He will now only play Starcraft on a part-time basis. I can't post the source link here because I'm unable to open TL since I'm at the office but, it's on the TL Headlines.

I agree.

Gone are the days of US$50,000 and above for the 1st prize in tournaments for Dreamhack, Iron Squid, MLG, IEM, etc. In 2013, they've only provided a top prize of around US$20,000. It's still a considerable prize, yes, but not as big as the ones back in 2011 and 2012, which Stephano had won.

sOs (or anyone in the top 10 prize money winnings) could probably top it in 2014, he just has to win 3 WCS seasons and the WCS Global finals. That would be US$175,000 easy.
