The interior still looks dull to me. I was hoping that Proton read all the negative bashes on Preve the last time and improve on this one, but sigh ... same old same old ... let's just hope the engine is a bit better ... should have come out with the Petronas engine already duhhhh ... we need 2.0 NA + manual!!!

QUOTE(dares @ Aug 15 2013, 11:01 AM) I thought they have dropped the Lotus R&H badge (renamed to Proton R&H). Why are they reverting back to the Lotus brand? DRB sudah inject some money to the ailing Lotus recently to revive their buss. I am guessing DRB still wants to milk the Lotus branding. This post has been edited by petrofsky77: Aug 15 2013, 11:35 AM |

Car Price : RM80K
10% DP : RM8k even with an optimistic int. rate at 2.5% (highly unlikely for national cars) with a restricted loan tenure of 7 years, monthly repayment will fall down to RM1007. Quite a steep amount to pay a month for a local car. |

QUOTE(jepakazoid_82 @ Aug 22 2013, 02:54 PM) That is the price u pay for all the refinements / additional features that Preve does not have, but should have. If Preve have the same refinements and features, i am sure it will be more heavier than Suprima. To give you an overview on how heavy is heavy : New Nissan Almera Premium spec (no bodykits) - 1440kg Proton Suprima S Premium - 1395kg This post has been edited by petrofsky77: Aug 22 2013, 03:19 PM |

QUOTE(AlexLee277 @ Aug 23 2013, 11:53 PM) my review posted on fb the other day, quite similar with most of the findings. Good review there Alex, me myself able to see the car up close just now at Proton showroom in Giant Kelana Jaya, too bad i arrived at 9pm showroom closed dee, but got one white color Suprima parked outside the showroom, so got the chance to peek from outside the car lorr ... I will come again to the showroom during the day sometime this weekend to have a closer feel of the interior ....tested whole car hanya belum test drive. Interior: built was quite even, there is no unaligned or pop-out piece. the 7" lcd touch screen is quite responsive. the speaker cun overall the interior can get 7/10. Exterior: do not expect gap line macam mercedes, the gap between panel is quite big compare to its continental competitor, but i would say it is good enough for proton qc. the design is my kind of design, the 17" really does improve the styling a lot, it fills in the wheel arches. at the rear, that "fog light" alike thing is a reflector(What SA told me). but i think it is better if its a fog lamp. the butt isnt photogenic, is all i can say, it look quite well in real life. exterior maybe another 7/10 Practicality: The safety feature is good enough to even needed praising. to me, the safety feature is basic, and solid. the boot size is quite big compare to their competitor (focus/forte/civic). the 1.6 turbo charged engine shouldnt be any worst than the preve, which is not quite bad, but underpower a bit la if you love vroom vroom. quite practical just like others 8/10 performance, tak tau lahhhhh overall quality very good. |

It will be a shame if Proton spends all that money to acquire the Petronas engine but end up being kept in a locker somewhere in the R&D Dept., not seeing the light of day ... Heard that the engine is promising, please Proton put it in your new cars after this pls ...

QUOTE(siegwarhiet @ Aug 26 2013, 02:10 PM) Lol, my mistake. I was inside the global website. It's the diesel variant. No wonder the torque is 350 Nm. Found the spec inside Malaysia website as per attached. 1.8T Petrol 250 Nm vs CFE 205 Nm not that far, but how come he left me behind so fast? The answer lies in the DSG .... |

It is an interesting thing to know that, despite all the heavy duty bashings, this thread managed to bleed over till 62 pages long and always remained on top of the first page on the overall thread list.

QUOTE(kenso77 @ Aug 27 2013, 05:17 PM) If you do not consider the Focus, Golf and Pug 308 as hot hatches, where does that put the Suprima? Even if Proton have the ability to build a car comparable to VW, they will never do that. Why? Simple. Demand. Our fellow Malaysians will never buy anything that priced above RM100k if it's local made, regardless if it's that damn good or not. Being a business entity, I am sure Proton will not sell cars just for the fun of it.Incidentally, if you want to know, I find the Octavia (the Mk III that I have, that is) the most uncle car among them all. It doesn't corner as well as a Focus, it doesn't accelerate like a 308 or Golf. It has the looks that's not easily accepted by today's crowd. But it does have the stability and sense of solidness I was talking about earlier. I may not outsprint a Golf from 0-100kph but I'd gun it down from 180kph onwards where the Golf will start to inch slightly faster to its top speed of 215kph while the needle on mine would stop at 208kph. It'll eat any Camry/Accord/Teana hooligans that's often flashing others off the road while travelling on the North South Expressway and still return 12-13 cents per km (based on today's RON95 petrol price) if I maintain cruising speed of 110kph. It has the characteristic of a VW in the rain where it'll travel straight even on wet roads. I've seen my fair share of Protons suddenly deciding to take a dive during heavy rain when trying to match speeds with a conti. Yes, the Lotus handling has indeed benefited Proton but I reserve comment on how it handles in the rain as I have not had the liberty of doing so. It will probably do well in a moose test. I've been actively recommending friends and family members to buy the Preve for its excellent value-for-money proposition. I am so very looking forward to seeing a RM120k C segment Proton. Either they're blardy insane or they've improved to the point where their quality and standards is widely accepted and everyone can say it's worth the price. Either outcome would please many Malaysians, no? |

QUOTE(-cmi- @ Aug 27 2013, 07:46 PM) Rebadging car is just very cheap yet the most easiest way to making profit but Proton existence isn't just about rebadging cars. If they just exist just to rabadge, they better don't exist at all. Y u no tell that to Polodua??? |
