QUOTE(VagueConcerns @ Aug 29 2013, 05:13 PM) Brighter DRL means more fuel consumption. Every bit counts, and when running DRL for 4-5 hours a day every day, the emissions difference is apparent. In some countries, a DRL cannot exceed 200 candela when looked straight on. Ahem ahem ... check your facts pls ... QUOTE Light Emitting Diodes (LED) only consume a fraction of the electricity taken by a normal headlight - they're being used increasingly for other lights on vehicles for the same reason.
Use of dedicated daytime running lights instead of driving with headlights or sidelights also means that tail lights and instrument lights are not illuminated during the day.
The alternator is driven by the engine and spins all the time but it doesn't always consume the same amount of power from the engine. When the electrical load on the alternator increases more power is required to turn it and so fuel consumption is increased.
While headlamps consume 110 watts of power, dedicated daytime running lights using LEDs might consume only 5-10 watts so putting negligible load on the alternator. Sos

QUOTE(dares @ Sep 7 2013, 10:23 PM) Probably because it was a 2 liter engine, which was not what Proton needed at that time? In order to dream big, you have to offer something bigger too. Now is the right time for a NA 2.0 engine, or a twincharge one for that matter. 1.6 NA and CFE on almost all of the new models is just plain boring ...

QUOTE(dares @ Sep 7 2013, 10:52 PM) For a D-segment, maybe. If Proton is not rebadging the Accord for this segment Rebadging Honda Accord for a D-seg will surely kill the dream IMO. But hey, Honda tech + quality + Lotus handling ... I can live with that ... and I think most Malaysian won't mind too ... heheh

Dunno what the fuss is all about with electronic boot release switch. Yeah i admit it needs some time to get used to (before i was used to cable release so when you pull the lever there is some tension on the lever until u hear the 'thuck' sound indicating that the boot is now open). On the SS, I have tried it, and even though there is no physical tension on the switch, you will have to keep on pressing it until the 'thuck' sound is heard. Same concept, different methods. My current car does not have any boot release lever inside the car at all.

QUOTE(dingdong985 @ Jul 4 2014, 04:20 PM) now i found this group happy to go thru. im in dilema like some of u..either inspira or suprema s... im driving persona myself, im satisfy with almost everything except the engine noise...owes can hear the engine noise from within driver seat so any feedback from anyone of you who get suprema s or inspira ? will love to hear some feedback b4 i buy them tq tq Your avatar describes your dilemma perfectly... On another note, it is a common trait for all Proton cars to have loud engine noise due to lack of insulation in the engine bay. For Suprima, you will still be hearing the CVT whine, but its a bit faded compared to the Preve, due to the new VT3+ cvt module. My advise? Test drive both cars on the open road with less traffic so that you can correctly hear any noises coming from the engine bay.
