Just backup first whenever you flash then restore if anything happens. Just flash it Bro =P

Just make sure you do a Nandroid before flashing..nothing to be worried about.
And don't ever forget do have an efs backup file.

i must admit u r true to some extent, battery life on s4 is poorer compared to ip4, but this is natural since the hardware in s4 is much more powerful (screen size, processor, gpu, RAM, etc) hence the greater power usage.

P/S :- SOME OF THEM NEEDS ROOT TO DO IT.

1) when you're sleeping, just turn on aeroplane mode, easy. usually my phone will never lose any battery juice.
2) DO NOT TURN ON GPS, GOOGLE NOW, SYNC OR ANY SMART FEATURES AS IT WILL DRAIN YOUR BATTERY AS HELL
3) avoid your phone from completely discharged, its not good for your battery.

ROOT IS NEEDED FOR STEPS BELOW
1) install greenify (to hibernate your apps when not using them)
2) flash custom kernels (undervolt/underclock your phone)
3) flash custom rom (some of em have battery mods to make your battery last longer)
3) flash tweaks

ive no idea to flash the modem in CWM or odin (noob in odin here )

id be happy if someone from XXUBMG9 and flashed directly to XXUBMG7 and have no issues to guide me

If you wanna flash stock modem..use MobileOdin is the easiest way.

mobile odin is not supported in i9500
