I think this has been discuss before, you can play DS on a plane, but just don't play in a WiFi mode because it might interfere the plane communication device.

No wifi plz. and that's about it. try not to turn on DS when they tell u to keep all electeonical stuffs switched off... They really mean it btw, when they say it... which reminds me of stupid dumb #$#$s on the plane who turn on their hps despite the plane refueling. =_=' |

Let's correct the term.
You must NOT ACTIVATE ANY SORT OF MULTIPLAYER WHEN YOU'RE IN THE PLANE! |

WIFI or microwaves from handphones do not cause problem to airplanes equipment cause it 'theoretically' interferes with the measurment devices only, that's all.
It won't cause the plane to plunge few hundred feet because u're trying to play Nintendo WIFI or make an international call. |

the new singapore air planes have POKEMON GB versions. imagine 12 hours of that.
anyways, the thing about wifi is theoretical. in fact, there is a paid wifi on singapore air to london heathrow that invites u to log on with your laptops. since u have to log on thru a gateway site, WFC doesnt work of course. |

I dont dare to play any e-devices on the plane (except are assured that usage of e-devices are safe) coz i will playing with own life |

ok.. actually let me put it this way.
Planes have a lot of signal shielding around their equipement and such to protect against stray signals beaming around in the plane. But it's hard to test every single wireless device in the world to make sure that they don't interfere, hence the blanket banning on radio devices on flight. The reason you have to shut down your things during take off and landing is that there are certain instruments that are used during those times which are extra sensitive to inteference and let's just say it's not a good idea to have an instrument go down when the ground is approaching at extremely fast speeds |

that pretty much captures it marauderz. tho i think it would take about 2 dozen cellphones on at the same time to generate that amount of interference.

I guess in summary is, yes it should be pretty safe to play wireless multiplayer when you're in the plane but if the people tell you to turn it off. Don't argue with them!

except that stupid MAS attendant that wanted me to turn off my cd player mid flight. cuz it would affect communications.
what manner of mental retardation would beget such a flaw in reasoning? |

QUOTE(Mr Ez @ Jun 1 2006, 01:59 AM) Bah! you young whippersnappers and your mp3 whatevers. in my day, we used to lug around music on our shoulders with giant boom boxes!! Ah. Good times. In any case, its not something that you should deliberately set out to do on a plane, but wifi mode isnt going to crash the plane just by you turning it on. |

I say, play all the darn wi-fi till the battery bleeds midnight, just be informed that you might end up landing (horizontal or vertically) on a different destination, place, location, thats all!
But no matter what happens, DO NOT, I REPEAT (pressing the caps button down REALLLY HARD), DO NOT bring snakes on the plane. EVER. Thank you. |

From ds.qj.net, steve :
QUOTE I have always wanted to play a brand New DS Lite on an airplane, a mile high in the air. I have just found out I will have my chance to fulfill my life long dream. Japan Airlines (JAL) will now be supplying custom made DS Lites for their Executive or First Class passengers. These bad boys have had their WiFi capabilities removed, so they would not interfere with the airplanes navigation systems and other fancy expensive things. Two of the four playable games on your travels will be Mario Kart DS and DS Golf. The flights from Tokyo to LA, NY, Chicago, San Francisco, London, Beijing and Guanghzou, will be the ones you will be able to enjoy your Dual Screened pleasures. This unfortunately is not a permanent arrangement, the extra entertainment will only last until August 31st. heh he.... guess none (well almost) of us here will never experiance this. I don't get it, why waste money on modding DS and then take it away a few months later?

If i were sitting first class, I would be too busy getting the hot japanese stewardesses to layan me for 18 hours rather than play the DS.
