Hi all,

I am setting my eyes on a Mazda Astina and I need feedback from all of you regarding this car, especially those who drive one.

Things like spare parts availability and fuel consumption, please do enlighten me on these smile.gif

Thanks.

My advise is, dont go for mazda. You will have hard time searching for spareparts for your vehicle. Same goes for 323 lantis

Well, iswara is a reliable car. Though quality might be at the lower end but spare parts are easy to find and all mechanics know how to repair this car tongue.gif You don't have to go for iswara. There's satria and wira too smile.gif

I disagree. Avoid iswara at all cost. As well as Wira 1.3 and 1.5 (especially the auto variant). A general rule of thumb is to get a manual 1.6 engine on any car, or a 1.6 engine mated properly to a 1.8 auto gearbox on either satria or wira.

My term of reliable is it won't breakdown by the road side on a busy day bro. I agree that those 1.3 and 1.5 auto variant most be avoided at all cost '3gears transmission'. Those 1.3 and 1.5 proton cars if taken care well, shouldn't be much of a headache.

Well just to let you know that I define reliability exactly the same way you do, and from my observations iswara does not make that mark. I believe the first generation saga, with ample maintennance, does a much better job at staying together in one piece. But that's just me tho. I used to drive a saga and an iswara before, so I know to an extend.

1.3 proton iswara always got this hard-to-start problem after you left it for a while (still warm).. if immediately restart/cold start is ok. Weird.

How about a '97 Alfa romeo?

@ lord_shadow: If you can live with the drab interior, I say go for it. Spare parts aren't super difficult to find as some tend to think.

Just make sure the car is in good working order and you should have a decent motoring experience.

this car not bad la..used to be my dream car when i was schooling. which ever parent drove this car, she/he would be instantaniosly cool.

lol btw 97 alfa romeo?
which one..tt spark or something like that ar..lol i think everymonth payslip come out, maybe half or more will go to mechanic to repair it.

a friend of mine is driving the 146 ..the hatchback..not sure if its 147/146..but its the boxy one. he got it 2nd hand and first month of owning it he already spent 3k just to repair the engine and crap.

after that here n there started to break down and he decided to just sell it off again and bought himself a v6 laugh.gif

hmm alfa romeo? used to be one of my considerations too. Try checking out the 146, not bad at a good price. But well, I dun think the quality of 97ish alfa romeos differs much to the modern day Proton.

I will try to be unbias in my opion.

The first time i bought this car as 3rd hand, gave me a lot of problems rclxub.gif
First few months was not pleasent, I slowly fix it month after month. Previous owner did not really take care of the car i presume.

Now is running smooth, just have to take care of it, like any other car. Just bare in mind that my car is over 10 years old (94 model), so compare any other car that is 10 years old there is bound to be wear and tear.

FC original Full tank RM70 = 400km
moded carby RM70 = 360km

Hope i answer some questions... I'll try to share info as much as possible for those interested.

Oh BTW, all four of my power windows never rosak since the day i bought it.
