I'm able to convert most rmvb files into avi format, but some of them will just shut my whole computer down in midst on the conversion. I've tried different programs, but they all shut down the computer. Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Programs I've tried using are WinAVI, EO Video, RM Converter, WinMPG and BoilSoft RM Converter

I think there is a possiblity to convert RMVB to AVI using Avisynth and VirtualDub tool.Since I don't have RMVB file, I cannot test it.

I've tested WMV to AVI using Avisynth and VirtualDubMod.Video good using XviD and audio seems fine.

I have the same problem with some of my RMVB files. I have tried to reinstall KLite Mega Codec Pack and also MPEG4Maker but still unable toconvert these files.

I suspect maybe the source file got problem?

YA! It's works! smile.gif But i think threadstarter problem is when he convert a video, his pc will restart. Mostly it's due to winxp issue. Corrupted codec maybe. I prefer using avisynth and virtualdub. Very powerful software. smile.gif
