I am aware everyone is different, that's why I'm just curious about the psychology of MISB collectors

For me personally, I buy TF with the intention to enjoy it, not to resell it someday. That's why I'm happy to take it out and transform it one or two times, even though I know the $$$ value will instantly drop by doing so.

For those who buy 1 for open display and 1 for MISB - I guess they are playing the investment game right?

One of the simplest examples is this Camaro Bumblebee from the first movie:



Suppliers were intentionally holding back stocks on this one, and many were selling it for up to 4 times the regular price.

Now it's pretty easy to get, but back then getting one was like winning the lottery.

It's a little hard to know which TFs will become in demand. Sometimes you get surprised also... for instance I personally thought Rodimus Masterpiece would be a mega bestseller... but in the end the reviews and demand were so-so only.

That sucks. If Takara & Hasbro are sincere about creating adult collectors items in the Masterpiece line, they should build this stuff to last for decades.

Why can't Transformers be made with the same grade of plastic as Lego?

Arghh to buy or not to buy...

Option 1: Blow RM500 on OP at TRU and live happily ever after with the beautiful robot and the big unnecessary trailer.

Option 2: Spend RM300+ on Takara MP10b with no trailer and live without the iconic blue + red colors.

Option 3: Don't buy anything, shut up and save money.

Unless it becomes a shelfwarmer, and scalpers who bought it early realize they need to sell it at cost price or even at a loss. If I'm not mistaken that's what happened with TRU Rodimus!

I got TRU Rodimus last year for RM200+ (maybe RM230 or something around there) from a toy shop at Times Square... can't remember exactly how much I paid and how much it was originally at TRU though.

TRU Bangsar Village still had stock two days ago. Not sure if the promo is still on though, try calling them.

Yeah I feel the same. A small markup can understand, but this one is ridiculous. Approx RM400 VS RM600. BUt I bought it anyway, because in US it's sold out everywhere. Second batch coming end August though, so there may be a surplus after that.

The weathering effect looks good!

Hey guys, would appreciate your advice: what is a fair price to sell a BIB Grimlock Masterpiece from Hasbro?

Box is not in very good condition, got some dents and small tears. The figure itself is fine.

I'm not sure what it's worth also cause I can't find anyone else selling the Hasbro one locally...

Check out TF Universe, TF Classics and TF Generations. You'll find some nice modern updates to G1 figures that still retain that 'authentic' G1 feel.

That's because right now they're focusing a little more on the new cartoon figures and some Fall of Cybertron ones.

You can still find a lot on ebay, and prices are not really expensive. For example:

Nice one! I was going to wait for the Year of the Horse reissue in a few months to get my MP OP... but according to reports it will be a repainted figure. I don't want a big yellow horse painted on my Prime haha... in that case better just go for Nemesis Prime.
