My mom bathes our Shih Tzu about thrice a week too. Once in two days. She applies powder on her too. laugh.gif
Our Shih Tzu is toilet-trained, so she doesnt have any problems with her own poo. She has a bad habit though, she likes to chew / lick her paws.
We only feed her doggie biscuits, so her breath doesnt smell, her poo doesnt smell as much too, compared to dogs that are fed "ojibala" food. (leftover, scraps)

Im not too sure though..
I heard some saying that we should bath them once in a month or 2 as they will have natural oil on their body that will help make their fur better and nicer.

Human shampoo cannot use on dogs.... in long run can damage dog's fur.

bathing a dog 3 times a week or everyday just damages the fur and skin. You might not see it but any vet will tell you NEVER over bath your dog. Bathing so much in a week will kill the good bacteria on the skin, washes off all the natural oils on the skin. We humans different coz our skin produces oil and sweat constantly everyday.

A dog can only sweat thru it's nose. The skin only has a small amount of oil to keep the coat in the best condition. Please do not overdo your dog.

Applying powder on outer coat is ok but too much will make the skin too dry.

Do you guys know that show dogs do not bath once a week? They only bath twice a month. Before a big show, the dog will bath a week before the show so that the skin will produce enough natural oils to make the coat shine. Show dogs do not bath a day before the show as it will make it look more like a pet dog than a show dog.

Dog saliva no smell.. I know coz I have 4 dogs hahaha.... the mouth is smelly because of the gums and teeth. If the smell is like rotten meat, then there is an infection in the throat or stomach so that need Vet to see if really true or not loh.

I also sleep with my dog, she licks me often and rolls everywhere in the house. I only bath her once in 2 weeks to keep her coat silky.

If you think the breath is stinky, you can try and buy charcoal pills and feed your dog. It will absorb the smell and it is perfectly safe to eat it too, humans also take. Or buy dog toothpaste that has tea tree oil and cinnamon to brush the teeth.

Wiping the mouth area also helps if the dog has a beard. If short fur dog, won't really help much.
