QUOTE(baka.bakashi @ Aug 16 2013, 10:50 AM) well it's possible as our 'early' target has all being grabbed or bid was rejected... there could be a conspiracy somewhere to not let arsenal strengthened the squad directly and indirectly Its not a conspiracy, its just an open secret that everybody hates Arsenal FC. I think its probably because our club often swims against the tide. While most English clubs plays a remarkable style to British football, we have short, quick passes and zonal marking. I remember we used to get thrashed by the media for having too many foreign players and very few British players, but ever since that time we've had British homegrown at the core in all our squads. Still they refuse to acknowledge that. When we replaced our Invincibles team with young players, they mock us for not winning anything with kids, yet these very kids are plying their trades in the big leagues and representing their countries.Even today in the transfer market, everything Arsenal does seems classless. And its obvious that a lot of British managers doesn't like Arsene Wenger on a personal level, judging by how they often give sarcastic remarks about our gaffer. Barely any football articles put AFC on a good light, mostly dissing us with sarcastic 'trophyless season', bla bla bla. Well anywho, I'm considering to subscribe to Astro Sports package this season if mr. Wenger gets Luis Suarez. Otherwise, I'll just watch streaming matches. |

QUOTE(rammstein1986 @ Aug 17 2013, 12:40 AM) We have about 11 fully fit senior players. The bench tomorrow is going to be filled with kids. Even if 3 world class players come in, looking at our injury record, we cannot possibly play the get through the league, CL, and the cup competitions. I like to look on the positives and highlight these points you brought up. The fact that we cleared a lot of deadwood...A LOT, shows that Arsenal is already a thin squad to begin with. Simply put, its not only now the problem arises....since we've had this same team since last season. Also, no one has come in yet, and it is hard to be optimistic when you have been hearing the same bulls*** for the past 8 years from AW and nothing changes. This is the first summer where no important player wants to leave. Only the deadwood have been cleared (and not replaced, leaving a threadbare squad) and it is the perfect opportunity to build on the stability and a team that is starting to gel together. We also have like tons of money to spend. Now is the time to reinforce the team and start challenging for the title. Yet here we are with no signings whatsoever. 2 more weeks? Which club is going to let their world class player leave this close to the end of the transfer window? It is all a shambles and frankly disturbing. Of course the injuries does makes it even harder to play a convincing role of winning the league in the long run, but the league itself is more of a marathon than a sprint. We may face a slight hiccup in the beginning, but hopefully....HOPEFULLY the BOD and Wenger would be able to come up with solutions...PERMANENT solutions, because I hate to seeing us getting average players like Marouane Chamakh to replace the then injured RVP and then stuck with him for years. And of course its deeply worrying how slow our club has been signing any players to strengthen the squad. I'm sure the players are sharing similar dissent and worries as the fans. QUOTE(Casanova88 @ Aug 17 2013, 07:38 AM) BPL top 5 table finish prediction for 2014: Seems legit, though I'm keeping my reservations on MU. Not too convinced if Moyes can carry a team that is not of his choice yet. His first 10 games would be the litmus test if MU does indeed can move on after the departure of SAF.1. Chelsea 2. MU 3. M.City 4. Arsenal 5. Spurs It's just about the game! QUOTE(HiperPanda @ Aug 17 2013, 08:45 AM) ^ wow..many ppl expecting Mour back to Chelsea wil turn them to champ again..and ppl seem to underestimate Pellegrini at Mcity. Mourinho is a proven mercenary manager. Give him Johor FC and he might turn them into AFC Club winners. Manual Pellegrini like David Moyes needs a few games to show that he's able to carry on a team that is not of his own. |

QUOTE(baka.bakashi @ Aug 17 2013, 01:22 PM) and if arsenal can retain their last 10 EPL games momentum which I believe using the same squad (except without gervinho), even a trophy is possible Just be realistic and take the game one at a time.Wenger is correct to predict this season will be an open one. While everyone is talking about the usual suspects for the top four position, almost no one cared about the newly promoted teams. If past history has a lesson, its winning against the lower league clubs that means a lot by the end of the season. |

QUOTE(baka.bakashi @ Aug 17 2013, 02:23 PM) i kind of having a lower expectation from arsenal this year where retaining top 4 spot is greeat... getting a trophy will be marvellous but realistically with a thin squad it will be a huge challenge... We're not the only club having confidence issues. Man Utd fans are worried how David Moyes will fare post SAF era. Liverpool are worried with their unsettled star players and team consisting mostly of youth. Man City has issues with new manager and defensive problems at the back. Only Chelsea looks convincing and perhaps Spurs ambitious transfer deals seems to keep their fans contented.I remember being an Arsenal fans during Wenger era has never been easy, but we're never short of dramas and ups and downs in every season. Dissapointed with our current transfer situation...yes. But I'm still looking forward to watching our fitst game, regardless of us having Suarez or not. Watching their Asia tours alone was enjoying enough...and seeing them pounce on Man City felt really great. We're not having it that bad despite how gloomy the outcome may look. |

QUOTE(baka.bakashi @ Aug 17 2013, 04:37 PM) Do agree wif u... watching arsenal's up n down in the past 14 years and have never been bored wif all the dramas. But the big defeat to MU was the most distressing n i just can't believe that our top striker went on to strengthen them. Me too! Its quite nice seeing our homegrown players gel nicely. Don't forget AOC and Wilshere too. So looking forward to see them play....I can barely contain the excitement.I have quite some anticipation of giroud, walcot n ramsey this year... they've showed much improvement lately... QUOTE(rifasha @ Aug 17 2013, 05:22 PM) Im just gonna enjoy the match tonite.hell, i even played a pre-match on FiFA13 last night. Won 2-0 with Giroud scoring both. Dem, I don't have any football games to get my football fixes. Lets hope your game score can reflect the same in our games. QUOTE(genexern @ Aug 17 2013, 06:00 PM) Just old pals catching up on old times. Mesti mengutuk Wan Zack Haiqal... |

I normally avoid this thread a good 6 hours into the game, since its just filled with rants and typical haters one liner. Past the game, none can give any good analysis over the game nor weaknesses in our team.
It was a horrendous match, etched by some very questionable reffereing. Its only our first match and already we received the first red card in the game, throngs of injuries and to add salt to wound, most of the other top teams are winning with style. Hell, even Liverpool scrap a decent win. As you guys said it before, its really useless venting out the frustrations because no BOD nor the manager read our comments. Still, its a public forum and you can't expect decency on all posts. Let's just move on and see what the next step the BoD should take in lieu of the embarrassing loss. |
