Support!

I'll start with some stuff that pop into my head after seeing a few new/returning monks:

1. Find the best MP that suitable for your DPS/EHP and LS.
- Calculate XP/drops gain over time
- Take fun factor into consideration
- CuteCow 276k unbuff DPS, best in MP8 with Ruby and Hellfire... it's also most fun.
2. Slowly aim towards MP10, that is the goal. You'll need this baseline:
- 250k unbuff DPS... lower also ok, but may not be efficient
- 500k EHP (d3up.com) with dual Life steal
- 550k EHP with single >2.8 LS
- Lower also can, just may kite more and again, lost in term of efficiency
- To get 500k EHP, you may need around 5k armor, 500 resist all, 50k HP.

Gearing towards MP10!

1. Craft! You need a lot of DE! 1000!
- Craft Bracer. Easiest to get BIS. Aim to get 6cc, AR, Vit.
- Craft Shoulder. Second easiest. Aim to get high Vit with Life%, AR.
- Craft Gloves - Harder, but try to aim for Tri-fecta
- Craft Amulet - Second hardest - try to aim Tri-fecta
- I dont recommend crafting Chest, not easy to get 3 socket and lots of Vit. Moreover, you may need Inna Vast to go with Inna Helm for the bonus.

2. Helm - Best choice - Mempo with 6cc if gold no issue. Otherwise, Inna Radiance with high Dex, high Vit, resist, and 6cc.

3. Chest - Inna vast/ Tal Rasha for 8/9% IAS. 8% IAS Tal Rasha with high Vit is actually quite affordable.

4. Belt - The Witching Hour - high Dex, high crit dmg, vit, resist, if got Life%, even better. Lower end, get low Dex, but still with high crit dmg could give you about same DPS, but a lot cheaper.

5. Pant - Inna Temperance - Best pant in game. Aim for high Vit / dex. Otherwise, lower end can get in less than 1mil.

6. For DW, nothing beats Nat Ring + Nat Boot. Gives you 7% more CC.
- Nat boot, if $ no issue, get high Dex > 250 dex + vit. Lower end, forget the vit. it's a lot cheaper.
- Nat ring, best stat that gold can buy biggrin.gif Lower end, whatever that fit your budget. biggrin.gif

8. Weapons - for cost conscious, get high Echoing Fury with Crit Dmg and socket. Sometimes, double dex also just as good.
- Otherwise, get both Dex, LS, socket, crit dmg.
- BOTH MUST HAVE SOCKET. At least one must have Life steal.
- Avoid getting defense stat in weapon... like vit. weapons deal damage... get highest dmg u can afford.

Best gear need a lot of gold... but I dont recommend spending a lot of gold right now, especially new iLvl gear will make yours obsolete.

My FastCow got 200k DPS and 600k EHP at around 150mil back then. Just for comparison purpose. biggrin.gif

OK. I will contribute as well.

I'll start with a starter monk (all rounder). 100k DPS on a budget.

Essentially a mp5-6 capable monk. Ingredients:-

1. One cupful of OWE Passive - stack an elemental resist on your gears. Try looking at Arcane, cold, lightning (these tend to be cheaper), physical , fire and poison seems more expensive. Generally what you want is to push you AR to 500 or so.

2. A handful of STI passive- This boosts your Armor. Nuff said

3. Add a dash of highest DPS weapons with the highest attack speed. The reason for IAS increase is Monk can only generate spirit from hitting mobs so the faster you hit the faster you generate spirit.

4. Mix the weapons in a bowl with Socket, Crit Hit Damage and LoH. Try looking for as much LoH as possible as sub 100k dps, LoH is much more effective. Then combine the bowl mixture with ingredient 1,2 and 3.

5. Put the mixture into a cookie tray and use a cookie cutter as mold. Cookie cutter - FoT (Thunderclap), Breath of Heaven (Blazing wrath) Mantra of conviction (Overraw), Blind (Faith in the Light), Serenity (Ascension) and Sweeping Wind (Cyclone).

6. Bake it ingredients with minimum 35% Crit Chance, 25% Attack Speed and 300% Crit Damage for MP1. For faster baking time, use a ruby for +exp and a Hellfire Ring.

7. To garnish, put minimum 2300 dex, 1000 Vit and 12% Movement speed as sides.

Serve while Hot!!

OK. What you are missing is Crit Hit damage.

Both weapons have no socket. Rule of thumb. Weapons MUST have socket because by forgoing socket - you potentially lose 110% CD each. In your case, you could have gotten extra 220% CD. CD is the mother of DPS, the Father being Crit Chance. Why, because CD amplifies your damage by % when you crit. Eg say you doing 50k hits, when you crit, the DPS is boosted by % of CD + 50k. So if you have 300%CD, the damage increased to 150k +50k =200k. So, by ignoring CD, you DPS is limited.

My advise will be ditching the Blackthorn set and swap it with a crafted chest or tal rasha chest and a Witching Hour Belt. TWH belt is almost considered BiS, but actually I prefer a highly rolled Inna Belt if you are using black damage weapons for bells.

Like yuhhur said, hook us up we have gears that we can give away. Details at pg 1

Nice shield. Few things to note:-

Use OWE. i.e stack 1 elemental resist. From you gears ..arcane looks good.

No sustain. U need sustain (life recovery). Get a 1k dPs weapon with socket with high LoH.

Lacking CD. Swap the amulet with high CD (Ammy max can roll 100%) lose the CC nvm.

Lacking Attack speed - S&B u need attack speed to swing faster. Again ..get from Ammy and from rings. Rings better as it can roll 9% ASI. I suggest you get a Nats sets ( Natalya Ring and Boot). That will give you 7% CC bonus + 8/9 ASI guaranteed.

I tried to use shenlong's set and left over gears on my 1st monk and use trigen for burst dmg. It's still doable on mp10 and faceroll the mobs and e's. hopefully monk can get new shenlong set in the xpac!!!

personnally, i think Shenglong will definitely gets some upgrade when Loot 2.0 is out. it's supposed to be the ultimate "Set" weapon for monk. but many has changed since 1.04 when they upgraded this Set... with everyone's going into 200k dps or more... the LoH, lightning damage, etc just does not make much sense anymore...

however, i also think there will be new ultimate weapon iLvl 70 set for all classes in expansion...

Anyone use WoL + Cyclone Strike combo?

Land a bell (it knocks back mobs) and immediately launch a cyclone strike (it pulls back the mobs to you).
Deadly combo and I LoLed.

If both WOL & CL crit, I could hit 75% HP of blue elites in just a split second. laugh.gif

To get to 100K is actually easy, pump AS,CC,CD on your gears and you're set but the hard part is maintaining eHP while increasing your DPS. That's where it's costly. I think survivability should always be priority and DPS comes after. No point having 300k DPS and getting one shotted by almost everything. Try to balance it out. I would strongly suggest you don't buy gold now. The expansion is coming soon and higher level items will be available as well as a better chance for self upgrades. I think you should concentrate on crafting. The best items comes from crafting. Cheap and GG
