hi guys need some advice here.I must confess I am not very good in car thingy.

My car got some oil leak that I need to change spark plugs every time I go for oil change. So one day while oil change the mechanic says my car got to do top overhaul because suspected valve seal broken and quoted me about RM2000.

Then I go ask another shop near my home in damansara PJ area but the mechanic says its advisable to do full overhaul because top overhaul is not enough and need to change the piston ring as well and need to change the timing belt, water pump and few other things which I have forgotten what is it and the most important thing is he quoted me RM5000.

As you guys know now economy is not so good so I think its best to spend my money wisely thats why I hope you guys can advise me on which package to take or any other suggestion are welcomed and fully appreciated. Thank you in advance.

full overhaul 2-3k only lol
top overhaul should be 1-2k or less

find other mechanics, honest ones.
*
sifu Quazacolt thank you for your input smile.gif

If I do top overhaul, are they going to change the piston rings as well, is there anything like top overhaul+change piston ring or you need to do full overhaul because top overhaul they are not going to touch the piston ? I am bit confused here.

Anyone happen to know any "honest" mechanic around PJ/Damansara/Sg Buloh area ? Seems that honest mechanics are hard to find nowadays sigh.... sad.gif

Actually this forum still alive thanks to people like yourself who are willing to share experiences with newbies like me and others who are struggling with problems. thumbup.gif

I think a lot of oldtimers already moved on to better cars liao thats why can't see most of them postings here.

You have the same problem as mine, have to knock-knock the meter to wake them up. My case was a failed
solder joint which was easily repaired using soldering iron. You can open up and check if it is also a soldering
problem (could also be bad connection at socket, but no harm trying):
thanks bro for the details.....sure must try DIY liao thumbup.gif

....My problem is the central lock will automatically eject, no matter the car is moving or just parking, after i lock the car. And after locking with the remote, it does not respond to the open button on the remote.

Can anyone help me with this?
*
dunno whether is your case or not but i oso kena before and almost lock myself out with the key in the ignition because the central locking go erratic ( bad mood i guess..) , it will lock and unlock spontaneously as if got ghost inside but finally i beh tahan liao so i open up the door panel and guess what....found some swingers having fun there brows.gif ....oh yeah... loose exposed wires that will swing here and there whenever the car moves or door movements causing it to short. Well i just wrap them up and ever since then i no fight with ghost liao bruce.gif

ok guys seems that bookshops are not selling "Iswara for Dummies" or "Complete Idiot's guide to Iswara" and so happen that i bought this used car with missing manual. So here goes a dummy question that need to be clarified once and for all. icon_question.gif

How do you read the oil level on the dipstick ? I have seen other car's dipstick which usually have a special markings like XXXXX indicating the oil level or some grooves for max and min level but Iswara one is a real pain in the a@# to read. Please refer to attached pic and my guess is the green is max and blue is min or is it the green is the mid level and word max indicates max level....phew... rclxub.gif
