QUOTE(hades4eve @ Aug 5 2013, 07:28 PM) Clingwrap is relatively cheap solutions well... actually i have some leftover of wrapper from my company (my company use quite a lot of wrapper)it is something like this: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « only problem is need to wrap it again if open it... that's why i'm still considering but i think this probably a best way for such big box... besides, my wrapper is free |

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Aug 7 2013, 10:11 AM) Nice! Medium size Technic vehicle. Not sure what vehicles it can lift up. I think 8110 is too big & heavy for it. yeah And the weight it can lift & tow. Motorizing it will be interesting, but my servo & motor will be fixed in 8110. Need to get extra XL motor again, but no servo QUOTE(aba9785 @ Aug 7 2013, 11:49 AM) totally agree with u... the review very nice and it makes me from "getting this set" to "confirm getting this set" looks like i'm manage to spread the poison |

QUOTE(paanjang16 @ Aug 11 2013, 01:03 AM) Some photos I took just now agree with u. the MKII is really huge (i don't think big is suitable)MK2 crane. It is wayyyyy bigger than I had anticipated. QUOTE(scpt @ Aug 11 2013, 02:18 PM) to be honest, i'm prefer the 8070 hotrod, the alternative model than the main model but luckily i manage to resist this...and i saw a classic set there QUOTE(tanghm @ Aug 11 2013, 04:13 PM) I've been doing this over the long weekend. nice mod Done a V6 engine mod onto my 9398 rockcrawler. BTW, just finish my mobile crane MKII this holiday... my first set that unable to complete in 1 day...
let me share some pictures that i take this morning » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « personally, i'm prefer the hook to be in one piece of metal, just like those old sets but i don't think it's possible with this size... and there are "sound of doom" or sound like somethings gonna broken when raise or lower the crane part to maximum point... took me 2 days to complete (about 13-15 hours) even i'm follow the instruction, only open the packages that's require instead of open all at once... (normally i will open all at once and search through all the parts probably take me longer time if i apply stickers as well... first thing that surprise me when i open the box - the wheel... it's really bigger than I had anticipated although there is picture show 1:1 of wheel size but it really surprise me when i take it out from the box and it not only 10 rubber wheels in MKII |

QUOTE(paanjang16 @ Aug 11 2013, 07:22 PM) Took 1 and a half days to build it, approx 9 hours to build. If start in the morning can finish in 1 day. wow The alternate model for the 8070 looks cooler than the main model. The best part is the automatic roof! If you want to build construction vehicles there is a whole range of vehicles to collect Nice! Very "hot rod" like! Old photo of my other Technic collection, 8448, 8258, 8053 and 8275. Three of them were dissembled long ago and the red car is in its alternate mode. Tempted to rebuild the 8053 to put it side by side with my 42009. ![]() maybe i can finish it in 1 day as well if i'm start at the morning... (actually i open the box at 11am, open the packages and sorting... only start bricking about 11.45am-12pm, until about 12am which is about 10 hours, lunch and dinner time don't count then 2nd day start at about 10am and finish about 12-12.30pm and play with it almost whole day so many tycoon share their technic collection » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Aug 12 2013, 11:16 AM) That should be the LA reaching its max or min point. The clutch will auto-skip (grind-of-death) to protect it from breaking. thanks for the info. There is a flaw with the double LA, similiar with the construction in 8043. Both the 20T gears should be at the same side, i.e. not opposite of each another. Search for Parax here Due to it, it could strain one LA on the way up, and another LA on the way down. Long term, the metal cylinder inside could grind the plastic inside, even though it is already gel-lubricated. does it mean it will damage the LA if always raise and lower? will it damage also if keep in lowest position... actually i also know this and test it before put the crane on it but i can't see the difference... i just simply put one long 'batang' and raise it or lower it QUOTE(scpt @ Aug 12 2013, 11:59 AM) really? I thought the main model would look better so I build the alternate one first. The convertible roof is cool, but I find it too low as it's not to scale to the car. actually it just my own opinion For the doors, there's a grinding sound when it's closing (or was it opening), can't remember which. Not sure if this is common or I made a mistake somewhere. the main model also nice but myself prefer the hot rod BTW, i seen quite a lot of sets are hot rod as alternative model but not as main model |

QUOTE(aba9785 @ Aug 12 2013, 02:17 PM) haha... just choose the one that u like or just both if $$$ is allow QUOTE(aba9785 @ Aug 12 2013, 02:22 PM) learn from other forumers here about the spoiler-ception... it reminds me of programming (oops... sorry for off topic i already got my stage coach few months ago... for me, this is quite a nice set... 5 minifig, 3 horses, nice mechanism for the wheels of the stage coach... and silver bar inside too maybe this review can help u make the decision QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Aug 12 2013, 03:32 PM) It's easy to know. Fully extend it. Touch your finger onto the side of each LA, both should have the same firmness. If one is firm, another wobble slightly, it's not balance. Thanks for the info and the link.Fully minimize it (no vertical force impact for 42009, but there is for 8043), do the same, see if both firm, or only one is firm. What it means while extending fully in operation, it is using only 1x LA power, the other is no-load. i.e. might as well take out the other LA to mod other stuff. Refer some dismantle pics here Using single LA, with repeated up/down, may strain it and the metal cylinder 'screw' will start to "cut" into the plastic housing it, even with lubricants. So far I have not hit into this ... yet. I test my 8043 with bucket lifting load of up to 250gm (yeah, I weight the load dumped by the bucket with a scale) and it sounds a bit strain to lift up the boom. Digging at higher load "in the ground", I estimate at 400-500gm, it starts to grind. Not yet build 42009, but I expect the double LA issue, and I will build the gears parallel instead of opposite. Also, by keeping the crane boom in down position, I guess no damage will occur, as it will rest on top of the front driver's cab. will try this at this weekends... maybe i just straight away modify it QUOTE(hades4eve @ Aug 12 2013, 04:17 PM) What is past, already passed... look into the future I was wondering will they came out with a architecture of pyramid + sphinx QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Aug 12 2013, 04:25 PM) Pyramid, too simple lah the pyramid and sphinx quite interest to me as well Unless they make it 5 layer with maze inside probably with the base like Taj Mahal, the piece count could be 25k QUOTE(hiroka88 @ Aug 12 2013, 07:40 PM) before challenge 42009, just bought 42006 for testing since i still new on lego.. 42009 really a challenge...wish me good luck guys still remember last time i used almost 4hours to finish 8069 for me, there are surprisingly a lot of gears inside... and i try to spin those gears everytime when adding new gears to it... just to make sure everything run smooth... QUOTE(vey99 @ Aug 12 2013, 09:22 PM) is there only 5 sets of castle sets for 2013?70400, 70401, 70402, 70403, 70404... i found myself quite interest with 70400 and 70401... and the dragon not bad also i wonder will lazada offer promotions for this sets... |

Then 42006, then 42009 ? yeah, jeremy clarkson Jeremy Clarkson yeah, I suggest just mod it, align both LA properly (can twist 180 degree) then set it in. he always crash/broken/fail something after he said "how hard can it be"... hopefully i won't be like this BTW, quite a long time since last show of top gear at TV... align both LA properly is that means both in shortest position with same direction for a beam to go through?
