Hey, does anyone here still have spare sets of the previous Shell's campaign Ferrari lego collection. I know it's been quite a long time ago, but the few missing cars I didn't manage to get always bugs me.

Yo... I like to keep my box MISB because I'm a box hugger I use clingwrap to wrap all my LEGO box and so far every single box smells like just out from factory / store

Clingwrap is relatively cheap solutions furthermore if you hug it to sleep and drool on it also nvm  You can go to DIY shop ask them for the whole big roll (not the standard wrap plate size) clingwrap. It is more economic and have the tendency to wrap the whole box ---- in one go!

Use black rubbish bag. Double layer.
Or those big plastic bags from furniture/mattress shop.
Or go friend with IT guy, some UPS/servers come with super big plastic bag.

Nice! Medium size Technic vehicle. Not sure what vehicles it can lift up. I think 8110 is too big & heavy for it.
And the weight it can lift & tow. Motorizing it will be interesting, but my servo & motor will be fixed in 8110.
Need to get extra XL motor again, but no servo   unless I take out from 9398.

I've been doing this over the long weekend.
Done a V6 engine mod onto my 9398 rockcrawler.

By using 3 universal axle joint to transfer the rotation power from the front motor, to a gear on the chassis. The gear from the V6 engine can then be detached when the chassis is flipped up.

Took 1 and a half days to build it, approx 9 hours to build. If start in the morning can finish in 1 day.
The alternate model for the 8070 looks cooler than the main model. The best part is the automatic roof!

If you want to build construction vehicles there is a whole range of vehicles to collect  cranes, backhoes, wheel loader, bulldozer, dump truck etc. So better to stick to technic flagships only.

Old photo of my other Technic collection, 8448, 8258, 8053 and 8275. Three of them were dissembled long ago and the red car is in its alternate mode. Tempted to rebuild the 8053 to put it side by side with my 42009.

That should be the LA reaching its max or min point. The clutch will auto-skip (grind-of-death) to protect it from breaking.

There is a flaw with the double LA, similiar with the construction in 8043. Both the 20T gears should be at the same side, i.e. not opposite of each another.

Due to it, it could strain one LA on the way up, and another LA on the way down.
Long term, the metal cylinder inside could grind the plastic inside, even though it is already gel-lubricated.

really? I thought the main model would look better so I build the alternate one first. The convertible roof is cool, but I find it too low as it's not to scale to the car.
For the doors, there's a grinding sound when it's closing (or was it opening), can't remember which. Not sure if this is common or I made a mistake somewhere.

It's easy to know. Fully extend it. Touch your finger onto the side of each LA, both should have the same firmness. If one is firm, another wobble slightly, it's not balance.
Fully minimize it (no vertical force impact for 42009, but there is for 8043), do the same, see if both firm, or only one is firm.

What it means while extending fully in operation, it is using only 1x LA power, the other is no-load. i.e. might as well take out the other LA to mod other stuff.

Using single LA, with repeated up/down, may strain it and the metal cylinder 'screw' will start to "cut" into the plastic housing it, even with lubricants.

So far I have not hit into this ... yet. I test my 8043 with bucket lifting load of up to 250gm (yeah, I weight the load dumped by the bucket with a scale) and it sounds a bit strain to lift up the boom. Digging at higher load "in the ground", I estimate at 400-500gm, it starts to grind.
Not yet build 42009, but I expect the double LA issue, and I will build the gears parallel instead of opposite.

Also, by keeping the crane boom in down position, I guess no damage will occur, as it will rest on top of the front driver's cab.

yeah, I suggest just mod it, align both LA properly (can twist 180 degree) then set it in.

70400 ambush set is very nice. if u got like a 16x32 baseplate u can set up maybe 10 sets on both sides
make a bigger carriage and have big ambush

dragon is a must buy la. rm180 for dragon set, awsm.
