QUOTE(jonwei @ Jul 25 2013, 11:14 AM) The Google Cast API allows for many possibilities. I'm not surprised if developers manage to add the cast button to video players on Android. Devs are picking at the SDK at the moment. |

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Jul 25 2013, 12:36 PM) Different. Samsung thingie stream any picture from your phone. That is not true. It can stream to any device on the network, including the phone itself. I canThe google chromecast a click from youtube immediately stream on your tv. also use it to stream movie to my WDTV Live from my PC using the phone. but of course, it can't stream from online services. I think it's something like this:
Device act like remote control only.Chromecast get & display content from internet or cloud as some people say. Biggest difference with other Android dongle is Chromecast cannot stream videos directly from device. |

i still confused with this chromecast, does it work like the 'throw' function in sony product? 'throw' basically display whatever media we play on the tab or phone to the compatible tv. but i believe the tv need to have a wifi function.
ok for example, currently my lcd tv no wifi function, if i used this chromecast attached to my tv, will i able to do the throw function from my sony tablet? |

Think of the Chromecast as having a Youtube player for your TV. It pulls content from the cloud, as instructed by your smartphone/tablet. Nothing is loaded from your device. In short, no display mirroring, for now.ok for example, currently my lcd tv no wifi function, if i used this chromecast attached to my tv, will i able to do the throw function from my sony tablet? But since the device is open to development, and actually has it's own hotspot (as shown in initial setup), I'm not surprised if display mirroring becomes a feature in the future. Agreed with what you said.invest in something that already proven to work. i am wondering if it can stream google+, i have tons of photos that i wish to share on the big screen with my family. This device got potential. Obviously it's not a finished article. If I were a buyer, i will buy it when it started to fulfill those potentials. |

It was never my intention to encourage getting the Chromecast for display mirroring. Though that thought is exciting, isn't it? invest in something that already proven to work. i am wondering if it can stream google+, i have tons of photos that i wish to share on the big screen with my family. |
