Got, friggin lots of mosquitoes.  sweat.gif

Dear Silverfire ignored part of my instructions to wear long sleeves and shoes with long socks.
So the fella paid the price with both his arms literally covered with mosquito bites at the end of the day  doh.gif

The girl also had quite a few on her legs. Even I also got one under my shirt! Don't mess with jungle mosquitoes  rclxub.gif

Haha, yeah, I've learnt my lesson too when I took photos inside the Rimba Ilmu of UM... the mosquitoes are crazy!
But at least no leeches right? haha tongue.gif

Of course~ The more the merrier, especially given the state of security in Malaysia nowadays, not safe to wander into a forest alone with gear worth tens of thousands  sweat.gif

Wah, I would like to join too once I get a macro lens laugh.gif

Bro, with your lenses you can take good "macro" shots also ah.. use your 28-300 at nearest minimum focus range and then zoom in, then if its not enough, crop the photo since you have so many MP wub.gif

You can always get extension tubes, meike has a set that retains autofocus and aperture control for RM250, which is what I have atm. Cheap solution compared to a dedicated lens, gives great results too.  thumbup.gif

P.S. If I do find a leech I'll probably try and take a macro shot of the mouth, I know it's weird but that's just me  brows.gif

Thanks for sharing sifu notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
I am aiming for the 105mm micro already haha, will be useful for my research too, and at the same time can be used for portraits... killing many birds with one glass rclxm9.gif

Yeah, it is often compared to the old-school 105mm F2 with defocus control, one of the best portrait lenses during its time lol...
I'm not sure how it will fare as a portrait lens since its F2.8 "only", but I'm 100% sure it is suitable for taking bug prawns (n3n)

LOL I don't dare to reverse my lens, especially outdoors with all that dust flying around  sweat.gif

So that's what "reversing" the lens meant lol

I guess the 105 would make a good portrait lens on a full frame body la, since you can get closer.  The 90mm on my crop frame is only so-so because of the framing, have to be furthur back = less bokeh  doh.gif

Keep in mind the aperture actually stops down as you get closer with macro lenses.

You all cheating to the max lah, D600 can go way above in ISO while D800 can retain details even when not magnified as close  cry.gif

105 micro can hardly match up to a 105 DC mate, since the micro stops down when you get close, while 105 retains it's bigger aperture at the same distance.  icon_idea.gif

Thanks for the input sifu notworthy.gif
Yeah, many micro lenses are like that, just that most manufacturers don't mention the decrease in max aperture when upclose.
Don't have a proper lens for macro shots haha, sure must cheat brows.gif
But with a proper lens, the D800's high MP counts will make it an incredible macro-shooting machine

Yaya, that's what most of the reviews concluded as well, but 105 micro can do both macro and portraits haha, cannot resist that one laugh.gif

As for the 18-140mm DX lens, a bit skeptical lol Lens with long focal range often compromise alot on IQ one sad.gif

Well, if it is as good as, if not better than the 18-105mm, it will be the next "gen" kitlens, provided its not too expensive as well tongue.gif tongue.gif (asking for alot)

i still got my SB400.
all depends what is pointless tongue.gif
some ppl who dont use flash often, but have pro bodies, just want something small to carry around.
also the SB300 / 400 can be used on the Coolpix A...if you need bounce flash...and small enough so it doesnt look weird with a bigger flash on it tongue.gif
*
Thanks for the input bro, I agree with you~ There is always a market segment for everything haha
It will "fit" smaller cameras better because of its smaller size, and with proper bouncing, can take very great shots as well~
For me I'd probably stick to an SB700 because of its balance in terms of price and performance haha, paired it with a SOny Nex-3n before and it works great... the more I learn about flashes, the more I am "addicted" to it haha
"I like to ask people to get into a dark corner, and then flash him/her" -quoted from a Pro Photog, Cheap Camera episode by Digital Rev XD XD

Before the introduction of 18-105 kit there were 18-135 but no VR though, during the D80 days. Not sure how many of you know/remember tongue.gif. If this new 18-140 turns out to be new kit lens then its great. Hopefully the VR is better then current 18-105 but i suspect probably the same more or less.

I'm not into photography during that time... but if I remembered correctly, the great sinchan sifu uses one during his early days XD

Yup, remember to bring ALOT of mosquito repellents, or wear biohazard suit tongue.gif
Better to go in numbers as well. Usually newspapers will publish locations and exact time frame to see these meteor showers

QUOTE(MichaelJohn @ Aug 7 2013, 08:19 PM)
Theres 2 methods but both still requires you to expose your sensor for a certain time.

1) Do a 20-30sec exposure for a certain interval and get hundreds of photos of it (Required an intervalometer or remote) then later stack up those photos using software (I used StarStax)

More info : http://digital-photography-school.com/4-st...acking-software
2) This one requires experimenting ( i guess ?) , you set your camera for bulb mode and exposed your sensor up to like 1 hour and above. (Recommended to use a remote also to reduce camera shake). But I heard this one is the most trickiest and a bit dangerous if you dunno what to do,especially exposing your sensor for a long period.
*
Thanks for sharing, great shot, I bet it took a lot of patience and skills to pull off! I remembered reading somewhere that Canons take this sort of long exposure shots of stars much better than Nikon. Can't really remember haha...
*tried taking shots like this before and I really sucked, and gave up jor tongue.gif

Gambateh bro, try to always fix the minimum Shutter speed to 1/50 everytime you take a non-moving subject and it will be fine~
It will still work when you start using flashes too thumbup.gif

If your lenses have VR, then perhaps can set the minimum to 1/30 or 1/40... still, like what mingyuyu sifu has mentioned, try not to worry too much about noise (I have this problem as well to be honest haha), most people don't look at photos at full size anyway tongue.gif

Thanks guys, my info might be a bit outdated already doh.gif
It seems like the problem was sort of software-related. Nikon, during that time didn't have software "calibrations" needed for astrophotos (or something like that, not really sure)... but seems like newer generations of DSLR do not have this problem already hmm.gif

Time to play around with "A" mode already bro, it shouldn't be too hard. After mastering it you won't get shaky shots anymore thumbup.gif
I'm not sure about the D600 but it should be the same, in A mode you get to change ISO and as the mode suggests, Aperture. Shutter speed will be determined by the camera itself to properly expose a photo thumbup.gif

I am still noob, but here are some general tips for you laugh.gif

It takes time one bro, noneed rush. Practice makes perfect though, so just keep shooting! Force yourself to step out of auto or program modes, don't let the camera "control" you. I remembered how all the skies in my photos were overexposed when I switched to manual mode (as I don't even know how to use the lightmeter [the one mentioned by mingyuyu sifu in my camera. Still, after some time, managed to understand how things work in the end rclxms.gif
