ppl say if you wanna learn more things then go small firm coz you gonna do everything lol from litigation to conveyancing even IPO sometimes... lol

But if you want fame and money then go to big firm. It is more specialised but you get more money and more famous next time when you are accepted into their bench.

to begin with, make sure you know whether u wanna play litigation or conveyancing. both are miles difference.

normally fresh grad go litigation first coz everything is still fresh in mind. then go decide properly after u finish ur pupilage aka chambering. but try to learn as much as possible during ur pupilage coz after that year u gonna be professional where clients listen to your advise. if u aper pun tarak tahu then client gonna palm face liao.

oO btw, conveyancing is very boring for new pupils... lol

and also.... many firms wanna hire conveyancing coz nobody wanna do.... lol....

try more firms... last i heard, Raja, Daryl and Loh is looking for someone. But that was last month, donno anything about it now.

You can too try Manjit Singh Sachdev, Mohammad Radzi & partners.

chambering is it?

Not many place for internship in law firms. Why don't you try the small firms with one, two or three lawyers? If you try those big big like Skrin & Co, Shern Delamore, chances r you will have to wait long or maybe never get any offer at all.

Or go for commercial la. A lot of banks hiring law grads.

Am not a lawyer, but has been a manager at an IT company but this could be useful advise.

1. LLB chambering is seasonal. At this point of time, this is the season where application from UIA students are a lot. Expect competition.
2. I have seen some IT grads resume and a few LLB grads resume that looks like a form 3 product. Resume are the representation of oneself before the interview. I assume and believe, your is much better.
3. At this point of time also, there has been request from many institutions also for their Law related courses student for 1,2,3 months practical for their student.
4. Try find firms that has such vacancy. Remember firm has to consider whether they have enuff resource for pupilage. Eg, place for u to sit, computer for u to work, budget for your allowance. I dont think you would want a place that gives no allowance.
5. 2 weeks is short. most firms are busy, their current responsibilities are their 1st important priorities. Some firms also want to kumpul a few resumes before calling for interview. Expect 1-1.5 months.
6. You can also follow-up by calling.
7. Most older firms are less IT savvy, even some partners dont know how to open email. Y dont you make calls to enquire.

my 2 cents

Actually, it depends on which area you wanna practice.

You wanna go liti, convey or corporate.

Then you go choose the appropriate firm that does the appropriate work.

let me tell you la... lohyar at first is lower than many other professional one.. RM1500-1800 in normal firms, only big firms like Skrine, Wong & partners and those super firms pay Rm3000. Even when ur pupilage finish it is about RM2500-3000. and of course if your exam result cacat.... very very hard to find lohyar job one. so still put RM1500 first and let them see what you got.

Hmm...you haven't graduate yet right? You are only doing attachment only right?

Some small firms the lawyers are very established and well know.

You could learn loads from them.

As for career, when you chamber only you choose your firm you chamber in carefully if you wanna work for them...
