QUOTE(tritonite @ Sep 2 2013, 11:33 PM)
I've been a subscriber of Astro B.yond PVR for quite a while now, and up until recently (two weeks ago is the last time I'm very sure), I could record a HD channel and still watch an SD channel. This is just using a splitter to split the ONE cable coming in from the condo riser into two to connect to the two sockets at the back of my PVR - i.e. NO two separate cables coming from the riser, and NO stacker/destacker.

However, I noticed three days ago that it no longer works for me, and after checking, I noticed that the signal strength (NOT signal quality) is now between 50% and 60%, well below the 80% to 85% level I always thought was the optimal signal strength necessary for the proper operation of the Astro PVR. After all this time of satisfactory operation, now Astro and even the condo management is telling me I need a stacker/destacker which I have to pay RM350+ for!!! This seems pretty outrageous, especially since Astro REFUSES to make any attempt to fix/boost the signal strength of the centralised dish of the condo block to prove to me that that isn't the problem.

As such, I would like to get some help and opinions before I decide what to do next.

a) Is anyone here with an Astro PVR living in a condo/apartment block still successfully able to record a HD channel and watch an SD channel at the same time using just a splitter setup like mine - i.e. WITHOUT a stacker/destacker in the setup? If so, can you please tell me what % level or value your signal strength is at?

b) For people currently a stacker/destacker, can you tell me if the quality and reliability of your PVR operation is good enough for what you paid for it? Also, is RM350+ the going rate for it, or is the stubborn Astro guy trying to take me for a ride?

Just wanting to see if I have any options, or if I really need to spend money to fix the problem. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Is that mean your SMATV outlet only have 1 RG6 out, then you use a splitter to split it into 2 and plug in your Beyond PVR?

Is Astro Multiroom come with a new dish(2 decoders, 2dish)? or we must use existing dish for both decoders?
*
1 dish also can. Just make sure they give you those 4 cable out type.

QUOTE(Violet Ling @ Sep 5 2013, 01:46 PM)
do you think Astro will give another new dish FOC if I request for it?
*
My case is like this, when i install the 1st decoder, i request them to give me a disc with 4 cable out, so that i can install 2nd decoder without install another disc. Astro provided.
2 weeks later, the 2nd decoder come. Also come with a disc. So, i think they will give FOC no matter how.

they can Change your existing dish to quad lnb if you want
if your case is to install it at the back of your house and your existing dish is infront of the house they give you a new dish to prevent messy cablings
also you can ask them to install new dish to "decorate your house"
*
My 1st disc already quad lnb. They Astro still give another disc after that

Astro Dish-->Multiswitch------>Decoder 1----TV using HDMI

.                                    \
.                                      \
.                                      Decoder 2------ TV using AV cables

Hi everybody

Currently I'm facing some problem with my b.yond

My astro b.yond only display certain channels even the weather is good .Actually this problem occur for second time in 3 weeks. For the first time the technician already fix it by adjusting my dish but now it happened again.
I'm already make a report about it but until now, after 6 days there are no call from any technician.

I'm still confuse either the problem come from the dish because when i check the signal strength, the signal strength is very high and if it really from the dish, how can it be repeatable?

anyone can share any idea or have some experience on this?
*
Only HD channels have problem or even SD channels also can not display?

I just bought monster inc university via Astro Best. Surprise to know it only last 2 days. But I've scheduled a record via my Beyond PVR.
MY question is, will my recorded copy disappear after the 2 days time lapse.
