It's because he forcefully grow himself into maybe 10 years ahead of his original age . This explains his hair growth (imagine 10 years never had hair cut) and the face . Which ... nobody could explain why he can grow in super speed , yet .

i dont know why, but i think gon will go back to his original physical state of being after his rage is cleared. and somebody out there will be able to cure him, so in the end, he'll be ay okay, with the warning that if he does it again, hell die.
