The hardware is basically the same. Although some features that worked in normal HTC One probably won't in Google Edition for now. Maybe future updates will solved this.

Mine now no casing. Just got extremeguard cover the back.

My phone falls screen first hitting my car's gear knob multiple times. scared already.
But now, I'm confident enough to go without casing. Hopefully not going to hit any hard surfaces any time soon

Hopefully one max will not be too expensive.

Well if you don't want to add thickness and can clearly see the back of the phone. Go for extremeguard. Of course in terms of protection, it's always better to use a casing. I got it RM 20. You won't be able to find it locally though.

They don't provide replacement phone. Unless you can get a spare phone better don't send for warranty yet. I think HTC themselves not sure it's a hardware or software issue. I remember someone said got mention in xda about this.
