From what I've read, both cards have almost the same cooling efficiency. MSI GTX760 Gaming seems have better overclocking headroom

Isn't Gigabyte more expensive than MSI?

Anyway, I have been waiting for too long. Making the plunge for MSI GTX760 Gaming 2GB DDR5 OC!!!! rclxms.gif

You drop it off at their office @ Empire Soho and they'll ship it back if there's any issues. Think you have to bear shipping to but return is on them. May differ from product to product though. Some have int. warranties.
*
Return on them? That's nice.

However, I guess many would want the convenience of RMA-ing to local vendors without expensive shipping fees and warranty headaches....

The 5 year warranty and the games are really a bonus. However, IIRC, the warranty is not transferrable...... hmm.gif

My new card has arrived! MSI GTX760 Gaming edition! rclxms.gif

Attached Image

Just starting to test the card. So far, happy with the noise and temperature.

At default fan setting, a full cycle of heavens benchmark will only cause the fan to spin up to 42% fan speed and the temperature to go up 72'c. sweat.gif

Attached Image

Tweak the fan settings with MSI afterburner to obtain better results. 74% fan speed at 62'c max temp after a full cycle. rclxms.gif

Some benchmarks to come later..... smile.gif

How much you bought it?

Rm1175 including postage.

Hmmm.... new thing for me.... power limit and power % on the graph....

In MSI afterburner, power limit is set to default at 100% but when I benchmark or run games, power % maxed out at around 73-74%.... hmm.gif

Also found out that for GTX 600 series and above, can also have temp limit if using afterburner 3.00 and above....

Have to do more research on this....

zhen^wei. MSI cheaper compared to Gigabyte.

Yeah, finally upgraded my GTX460. Waited so long before getting this card. Hands were so itchy to try out the 500 series and 600 series cards...... I guess it was worth the wait..... smile.gif

GTX460 vs GTX760.

Attached Image

That on ultra setting with AA at 16x QSCAA. Grid 2 is still quite smooth with AA set to low on the GTX460.

TwinFrozr is great! Most games max temp around 62'c at 70+% fan speed. Less demanding games doesn't even reach 60'c. At that speed, the fans was audible but doesn't sound like vacuum cleaners rclxms.gif (casing just right beside my monitor).

However, this was tested at night in aircon room (closed casing).

Attached Image

So far, most test showed >100% improvement in FPS (upgrading from GTX460 to GTX760).

For Tomb raider, not too sure why the min FPS is lower.... maybe due to the monitoring tools as I noticed there were microstuttering on and off. As always TressFX really kills FPS on Nvidia cards.....

Indeed, the TwinFrozr IV is one excellent heatsink. You have slightly better temps compared to my DirectCU II. After a run of Unigine 4.0, temps hover around max 65 C at roughly 70+ % fanspeed. The fans are left on auto though. It spun faster than I expected it to be, but nevertheless it was still pleasantly silent. I think MSI and ASUS definitely hit spot on the thermal solution. Kudos to them on this. thumbup.gif

Btw, what is your max observed boost clock? Mine tops out at 1150 MHz.
*
Using MSI gaming app, 1129mhz on gaming mode. If OC mode, 1189mhz at 100-110% power. I can actually set power limit to 145% but didn't do it. Not planning to OC my card.....

I see, you only need to click either Gaming or OC Mode right? By default it's at Gaming Mode?

Same here too. Will just leave my card running at its default speed.

Errmm... I think default is silent. Not too sure as the app starts without anything selected. If I select gaming mode, stock clocks will shoot up to 100% and never downclock. Power % goes to 25% and temps rises above 40'c. Not too sure whether it will downclock or not.....

Have to do more research on what these modes actually does.

Value for money, better GTX760. nod.gif I feel the 770 and 780 are overpriced too much due to lack of competition.

I think everybody will tell you that OC can damage any component, depending on how much you push it. If no OC can sometimes spoil by itself too. biggrin.gif

The default stock clock for the MSI GTX 760 Gaming is actually 1020 MHz (1085 MHz boost). I think clicking "OC Mode" pushes the clocks up to 1085 MHz (1150 MHz boost). At least that's what I get from the official website. I just wonder why MSI doesn't just stick with one profile at 1085 MHz. biggrin.gif

http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N760-TF-2GD5-OC.html#overview
*
Not too sure as "Gaming mode" causes the core clock to shoot directly to 1124mhz. If "OC mode", directly to 1189mhz... rclxub.gif

Here's valley benchmark at stock clocks..... temps goes up to 62'c....

As I guessed, below are the "settings" as quoted from Hexus. Default is Gaming Mode. Usually, the boost clock that you can get will be higher than what is guaranteed. Example for Gaming mode, your base clock is 1020 MHz; boost clock is 1085 MHz, but you're already hitting 1124 MHz. biggrin.gif

Quite happy with my MSI GTX760. Idling at 31'c at 34% fan speed in aircon room (set at 25'c).

This review also shows the advantages of MSI card : http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/4608/gefor...evga-vs-inno-3d

Asus doesn't fare that well while the Inno3D ichills looks tempting! drool.gif
