Hi, guys

Apologies, but I'm new to FFXIV:ARR. Was wondering if anyone could help by answering some questions.

1) So in order to play the game on the PS3; it's best to get the EU version and pay via credit or debit card? If so, don't they require your credit or debit card to have an EU billing address?

2) Is Tonberry is the best option? I remember one of my friends telling me that the game ran quite smoothly apart from some lag during certain occasions while he was on Leviathan during Phase 3.

1) EU UK version to be exact. So to get the cheapest sub rate. Hm, do they still send bills to your home nowadays? Can't you check the bills online?

2) Tonberry is a new server. Means everyone will start at Lv 1 with minimal Gil (money). We're also playing on Masamune which is a Legacy (older) server where there will be players from the previous version of FFXIV (vets) who have leveled up their characters. You can read the pros and cons of these two servers written by Shojikun on the first page smile.gif
SimCity 2013. Older fans of SimCity dubbed it as SimCity 5, as it being the fifth game of the title smile.gif

Based on what I've heard, apparently the US version of the game only accepts credit or debit cards with a US billing address. It's similar to Playstation's (US account) PLUS subscription; if you plan to subscribe and pay via credit card, it has to have a US billing address.

Oh yeah, when you say, "then register as UK country to get cheapest". Where do I go to register?

Apart from the Japanese speaking community in Tonberry, is everything on screen display in English?

Thanks, btw.

Yes get EU version, then register as UK country to get cheapest. Dont worry about the billing.

Tonberry or Masamune, your pick, would you prefer to start on same level as everyone (which in turn will be same after a month anyway, pro guildies will always max level faster than anyone) or play with old players who establish a server already in Masamune.

This two server is in JP.

Leviathan is in NA/EU server, which is of course lag for us. their servers are in Montreal, Canada.

Tell your friend if he want less lag, come tonberry or masamune.

Alright, thank you.

Hopefully, I'll get to tryout the Phase 4 Beta this weekend. May have to create an EU-UK PSN account first. I don't think he's planning to buy the game; as he thinks that rm40++ per-month is too expensive.

Or just subscript for Entry level, RM37/mo.

yes the game language you can just pick english.

As for subscription more infomation will come when they launch their new account management site called Mog Station.
Majority of the Oceania/SEA players are playing in Tonberry & Masamune.

Regarding, lag issues. My friend said that the results he got on screen for Connection was always either Excellent or Good while he was playing on Leviathan.

I e-mailed Square Enix EU two days ago, and I got a reply this morning regarding billing and server selection:

"Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Support Centre.

We thank you for your interest in FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Unfortunately, the game is not supported in Malaysia which could cause billing and log in issues. The region of the game would need to match the region of the SQUARE ENIX Account and valid billing information. If your country is not supported, you would not be able to enter the correct address details on your account.

We can not recommend you complete the purchase of the game as we could not provide support if you were to encounter issues.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Kind regards,

The Square Enix Support Centre team"

Anyways, gonna try to download the beta tomorrow.

Wait..so if I were to buy top up using a malaysian debit card for eu account, can or not?
*
What is the "top up" you're talking about and where can I get it?

Anyways, the guys here are playing it so I guess there shouldn't be any problems.

However, (based on the reply I got) if you do experience log in or billing issues in the future the SE team might not be able to solve it.

Seeing that a lot of people are having trouble entering Tonberry. Are there any other recommended servers?

most of the members here are entering either Masamune or Tonberry.
I am entering Masamune. since masamune is currently locked, I will be playing in Tonberry till the server reopens
*
So only two options? But isn't Masamune only for Legacy players?

I'm new, so if I can't get into Tonberry tomorrow; which other server do you recommend?

Btw, can you use the same name for two different servers?

Masamune is not "only" for Legacy players. Anyone can join.

Its up to you which server you wanna join. For the pros and cons of new vs legacy server you can read first post

Yes you can use the same name for diffrerent server.
*
In that case, I'll probably just use a temporary name for server testing before actually deciding which server to play on. Thanks.

My friend's just logged into the main menu but he said there are two service accounts options available; Final Fantasy XIV 1 and Final Fantasy XIV 2...

Any idea what those mean? Failed to log into the game after picking Final Fantasy XIV 1. The error message says something about multiple platforms.....

He's restarting the Beta now.

which menu, the luncher or starting screen? nvr saw that before

Starting screen. He said he must have made a mistake during login process. Probably should have clicked on using existing account instead of starting a new one... Can either service accounts be deleted? Anyways, he was able to get into the "Intro scene" after picking Final Fantasy XIV 2.

Btw, I've created an account on SE EU last night. OMG, their site navigation is so un-user friendly. Hopefully, I did it correctly. sweat.gif

Don't think you can put MY address since your selected region is UK. They probably only have UK cities/states up for selection.

I wondering is there any time card/ later on or must have debit card to pay for crystal?

Only saw 60 days time card on Amazon.co.uk. Time cards would be easier, avoids the concerns/complications about having to provide credit card info.

I think the problem with Crysta is that you can never purchase the exact amount of Crystas for your monthly fees.

Say you're subscribing to the 180 days package. It's £7.69 x 6 = £46.14. Which means you'll have to buy probably £50 worth of Crystas. So you'll end having a balance of £3.86 still left in your account.
