With similar configurations (aside from GTX765m for RE and GTX770m for RS), the price difference between these two models came up to about RM1.6k. I wish to have some opinions to justify the difference in cost!

Apart from the slightly better graphics card, backlit keyboard, dual fans (but not that much difference in temps?), and future upgradeability with the RS-15, is there anything else I should look out for?

Still in a big dilemma about which of these two I should pick cry.gif

For me, I would go for RS15 if the budget allows. The GPU upgradability is already all big plus while backlit and dual fans is bonus rclxms.gif

RS-15 is a little bit of a stretch at about RM6.5k with the configurations I want, but still attainable. So I'm getting more opinions to decide whether I should spend that extra!

Good question!
Will it be better to get a RE-15 and change a to a new one after 3 years? Or a RS-15 to last for 6 years, with GPU upgrades in between? Which one will be more worth it?

hmm.gif hmm.gif

Maybe can ask opinions from the Illegear team~

It doesn't seem like there's much differences between RE and RS series though. I hope someone can point something that is big enough to make us choose RS 15.

The dual fan configuration and better heat sinks will keep temps in check, even when much higher-end GPUs are chosen nod.gif
And of course, the upgradibility and higher end GPU options~
But whether it is really worth it varies from person to person I think hmm.gif

My suggestion is:

Opt for RE-15 if you need GTX765M GPU
Opt for RS-15 if you are need GTX770M / GTX 780M GPU

You don't need dual fan for GTX 765M. A single efficiency fan can provide decent cooling for RE-15.

It depends on your budget. Personally it also depends what you wanna do with it.
Cooling wise is excellent both sides.
Only main diffs is the GPU in which RS is not soldered ( means upgradable in future), and yes, GPU's are very expensive.
If you have budget i suggest RS however, RE is not lacking in specs too.

In my humble opinion, I would choose RS-15 due to (i)upgradibility and most importantly (ii)local support and dynamics from ILLEGEAR.

I feel sad that my Alienware can't be further upgraded, hence the value is decrease significantly by time.

Budget is definitely not the problem laugh.gif
But I'm not too sure whether it is worth the extra money for the RS-15/17 though hmm.gif
Of course, theoretically we would say the notebook will last long (say 6 years?) so we can upgrade in between to save costs.. Not saying Illegear is bad, but like all other brands, there are possibilities that notebooks will fail one... and what happens if it fails after the 3 years warranty period before I even got the chance to upgrade the GPU? The repairs might enable me to buy 2 "RE-15" already, one now, one 3 years later hmm.gif

Just saying la haha... Money not easy to earn tongue.gif

Thanks for the input Doc! Appreciate it!

+1 my advise is max out the re15, use it till u bored, if u want to upgrade just sell it and buy a new laptop in future..this save alot, if buy rs15 sure u can upgrade in next 3 years but then can the power supply of rs15 support the decent gpu W in next 3 years? the upgrade part has it limit yo icon_rolleyes.gif

Just curious bro, are you eyeing on the RE-15 or the RS-15? hmm.gif
After getting the specs I want, the price difference between the RE-15 and the RS-15 configurations are around RM3k apart cry.gif

RS has dual fan , cpu gpu heatsink and dual vent while RE has only one fan , cpu heatsink and one vent.

RE series is using the W350STQ/W350ST barebone : http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Schenk...ok.94048.0.html

RS series is using the P150SM barebone : http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Schenk...ok.92973.0.html

RX is using the P370SM barebone : http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Schenk...ok.97426.0.html

Most likely they are the same. But if you use win 7 u will have to ask for win 7 drivers.
Like me, i choosed NO OS so i forgot to tell them so they assumed win 8 so i have to download the drivers from the clevo website.
But if you choosed an OS, they will give the compatible drivers for the OS (win7/win8).
