My original BST-37 battery is like the SE site. Made in China and Finished in China. It has a metallic like casing around the battery. Solid feel to it.

Type CBA-0002001 stated after the Li-Polymer 3.6 V info.

My AP set however is like calvin_gsc. Has a paper like material wrapping around the battery instead. Made in Korea and finished in china. Looks crappy to me. I'm not surprised this is fake.

LOL, sorry sorry. Just got back from partying before posting those pics. Bit blur.

All links fixed.

Hey, here's what i got from SE service center from Maxicom. Even if you bring in the fake batteries it would be quite difficult for them to determine it is fake or original. Only a few guys would be able to tell. shocking.gif

He showed me different type of batteries make. Although i didn't notice any black covered top (the water test sticker part). Well to me, the best type would be the Made in China, finished in china type batteries. Type CDA 0002001.

Basically all are the same, just the build quality and how sexy it looks smile.gif (compare paper like wrapping with aluminium type wrapping.

hmm....im wondering..is there any other users of BST-37 dat looks like mine? unsure.gif n my set was said to be all ori n full set by da dealer i bought frm

Yours look a bit like fulat's on page 1.

Come on, anymore Midland sets that can take pictures of their battery?

So far, all my colleagues with Midland sets look like what i have posted. Strangely it is Made in China Finished in China stated at the bottom and not Made in Korea Finished in China.

VS COM Explaination
==============

(Disclaimer: This is what i understand from VS COM salesman, if the information is wrong, then i apologize as i might have misinterpreted his explaination)

Last Saturday, i went to VS COM lowyat branch near the escalator. The salesman showed me a battery, it was like my Midland set also. Metallic like casing. In Carrefour endah parade, same as well.

According to VS COM salesman, AP sets (and some midland sets) sellers put in original batteries but mostly might have taken from old stocks such as from K600i (where the battery has paper like wrapping - I think it is true as my friend has one, got from Maxis branded K600i phone). It is still original battery, just older stock. (Probably to clear old stocks)

There's also what fulat mentioned in earlier post that coincidentally the same with what the VS COM salesman mentioned,

QUOTE(fulat @ May 13 2006, 11:32 AM)
calvin,
yours might be a refurbish battery according to the technical personal...and they are sure yours a ori one...

-vip3rleon9-, pengster,
according to them the battery was manufactured after 05W20 above. your battery might be imitation.
*
The metallic like batteries came out roughly 05W20 and above. So K750i batteries should be using the metallic like batteries.

Others could be refurbished, older original batteries stock or even worse, fake batteries.

QUOTE(2uk3y @ May 15 2006, 10:38 PM)
as what i understand that dreamthief said is.......
the battery that has paper like wrapping & metallic like casing is the same...... laugh.gif
the different is only old or new stock...... doh.gif

if u buy new phone today then get battery that has wrapping paper, so u 'rugi' la...... sad.gif
then if u get that has metallic battery, so u 'untung' la...... thumbup.gif

but still dont have explaination about ori n fake one la..... doh.gif

btw i dont like battery that has wrapping paper, looks like fake for me..... laugh.gif
*
Yup, but take note, it could be three things

1) Original old stock
2) Fake
3) Refurbished

I agree the metal wrapping looks genuine, the paper wrapping looks like some pasar malam made goods.

My friend bought his Midland set last month. Look at the battery! It's a 06W04 batch.

The wrapping isn't metal and on the top part of the back, there is no < > on the top.

Is our AP battery actually Sony Original?  laugh.gif

I got a friend just got a AP set also looks like that. But then he got it from some shabby shop, just because that shop offered him a very good trace in price. Got Midland sticker and etc.

Do notice, it is made in korea and finished in china. Which most midland sets are made in china and finished in china that have metallic wrappings.

so the conclusion is on the first page? tongue.gif

the conclusion is, Sony Ericsson products are hard to find whether it is a fake or not. They should start something like online code tracking similar to Nokia.

Actually, after coming across my friends who recently bought original K750i and w800i, their battery is just like fake one, but with midland hologram stickers.

I think the trend has changed.

I think now there is no way to tell whether one is real or fake.

I guess the cheapo like paper wrappers is a way to keep the phone cost lower. I do hope SE will start something like Nokia. An online check for batteries with some unique code.

Yah it does.

I can tell you that, SE battery indicator sucks. I know estimating the total power left is an approximation thing. But SE does it the worst. motorola and nokia is much better in this department.
