Yup as Skylinestar stated, good luck....

Dune Base 3D does not support Bluray Menu and Dune Max 3D is suppose to do it, and is suppose to be release in 2 quarter 2013... until now, habuk pun tak da.....

Don't even get me started on the Oppo....

U looking for 3D media player or 2D will do?

Maybe you can consider some china brand media player....

Recently just bought one from china taobao. 3D media player with Full menu navigation using marvell chipset.

Do you mean BD Java menu? If it is and not BD-Lite menu, then it is good.

I will be reviewing the player that has been mentioned here. Utilizing the Marvell QDEO chipset with full BD Java Menu (2D & 3D). Will post a critical review once I complete my tests. Will have calibration checks as well to see if its any different from the Oppo player that can play isos.

Yes, Full BD menu, it is not BD-lite menu.

there is still some bug to fix especially on mkv file related issue. but overall playback of ISO still fine.

That's good especially if the price is affordable / lower than Dune.

My old Dune Base 3.0 still supports full BD Java menu, only downside...no 3D compliant.

Please do. My eGreat S100 with Dune card is working now, but no 3D support!!

You review would be MOST appreciated, especially if you can also provide the Malaysia distributor/reseller

Thanks

Quick review before I do a full in depth review.

Works as advertised. Has internal blu ray rom and 3.5in HDD slot. Has also 3 usb ports.

BD iso works with full menus. Also, picture slightly sharper than Oppo. But I believe QDEO implementation is slightly different. U hv full control of all QDEO options!

Heard of this

I believe someone had commented in one of the thrread here that he bought one with his boss when they were in China, but he also commented that in some situations it wasn't very stable...

Again, will appreciate any reviews you can provide on this player

Thank you in advance

I hv mostly isos and bdmv folders as my backups and so far except for one title they all play fine.

The BDROM works flawlessly as well.

I will test all possible files. I hv tested m2ts and it works as well. I will test mkv with lossless audio once I hv the files.

No its not Android based. I believe its full Marvell based and shd be Linux based (I think).

I have been looking for a media player that can do full menu to supplement my Oppo that is the only one that I know can do 3D with full menu (old firmware). However, the Oppo 93 is no more in production.

However, lets not get ahead of ourselves. I am yet to complete testing, so let me complete and see what other issues it has.

Pricing is not cheap, its direct from China. So it must be worth it before I recommend. Let me complete my testing and I will report back.

geforce,

I'm currently checking to see if I will buy one.

movfreak,

Yes, we will need to since there is a Minimum Order Quantity to be able to get decent pricing with shipping, not sure about warranty as hv not worked it out yet.

I'm a little tied up for the next 10 days, hope to have something by the end of next week at least. Plus I need to watch some complete movies to ensure there are no other issues with the player.

Okay, please note that the person whom I sent a pm to about this player, did indicate to me the price he paid. He said the NFS portion of the player is not stable.

Actually I have both Bevix BV8178M and Hualu N8 3D BD players+Media Players recently. Still need time to play around.

So far they are what they claimed they are: can play all region BD, cinavia free, can play BD with full menu, and can play BD ISO, BDMV, mkv, rmvb, ape, flac etc.

Bevix BV8178M http://www.bevixtech.com/product/detail.php/id-19.html is running on Marvell 88DE3010 chipset whereas Hualu N8 http://www.bfhualu.com/index.php/product/1/8 is running on MTK8555 chipset.

I used Taobao agent to help me purchased the goods so add another 20% is what I paid.

For example RMB2200 convert to RM is (RMB2200/1.8*1.08)=RM1,319.99 + shipping cost.

About the price of Dune Max when it came out.... Will check with the person who bought it if he got it at the same price.

How is the Hualu H8? MTK makes good chipsets as well, I believe Oppo uses MTK in HDMI 2 for the Oppo 93.

Supposedly, Oppo and Dune had resolve the issue, but since I've never own neither, I cannot say. I have read forum where they rave about these network connection capabilities...

Yes, supposedly Bevix doesn't have reseller selling their products in Taobao or Tmall, the only official taobao shop is http://bevix.tmall.com/ that has link from the Bevix official site. But then all those reseller also want to do some sale thus they put in the title of 8078M upgraded version to represent 8178M. And if you pick the following package means you want the BV8178M pacakge. Hope this helps.

The Dune Max3D will probably around the same price as the old model. So, I am expecting the price at about RM1.6K. Apparently, it does not have Cinavia protection and it also has BD Java menu. Fingers crossed as the shipment for it was delayed to next month.

If it is what it claimed to be, I will not hesitate to get one for my own.

Based on the link below, it mentioned the Seastar BDP-190 was MTK8560 chipset based and perfectly support BDMV or BD-ISO. It also mentioned it's hardware based AAC Cinavia free solutions since 17 April 2013..

Check with the seller at Lelong. I tried one mkv file with DTS-HDMA on my HiMedia 900B before and it can bitstream without proble. Maybe I'm not that sensitive though..

You can read the feedback from other items and the price was cheaper than the seller in Lelong. Certain area can have the COD option too

The seastar unit plays BDPs and isos, 3D as well. Its cheap and worth testing out. Might ask my brother to be the guinea pig.

Lazada does not mention this but lelong did.

Some more details on the Bevix 8178M.

Calibration wise, it is identical to the Oppo and a test pattern generator if u leave all QDEO settings at default.

Some differences, it only sends out YCbCr 4:4:4. There are no options to use other colour spaces, so if u set likes RGB, u're stuck.

However, all displays will accept YCbCr 4:4:4.

So the good news is that it does not alter the signal compared to a reference set, but u're limited in terms of colour space.

So meaning the best setting will be using default setting? Right?

If u want unaltered video, yes.

I would like to mess around with the rest of the QDEO settings (especially some of the adaptive contrast and EE to see if it can improve a little for poorer video sources).

Is there an option in the menu to change BD region?

On the Bevix it was an option in the menu.

Do you know if the BDP-450 pic quality is better than Dune?

I read one review which says it doesn't play mkv files.

Yes , bro jchong I'm using multi HDD dock ( 4 x 2 tb). But only with 2tb HDD on when watching movie . If I on all the HDD (4 x 2tb) then the Pioneer will become very slow. And it had lip sync problem, just add 200ms to audio delay(AVR) . Other than that, I can't find any flaw with the Pioneer . Money well spend .
