looking for UV reactive acrylic, 8mm thick
clear colour without UV, under UV lighting glows green.
or
green tinted, under UV lighting glows green.

Need about 2x1 feet.

Please let me know if you have or you know where to get.

alot of people have been asking for UV reactive acrylic here la bro.... and if im not mistaken....there has yet to be any success stories.....those kinda acrylic abit hard to find...somemore u looking for 8mm thick

even if u go to ad shops oso they just might go "huh??? wtf is that??"... i think the best thing u can do is go to places which sell acrylic and bring along a PSU, power cable for the PSU, and also a set of UV CCFL....test it there n then itself in a dark room a hassle, yes...but not much choices already right?

and of course as always, IF u are successful in finding your acrylic....let us know where yah

oh yeah...before u do all that...try PM ianho. he has his own acrylic supplier for his case mod business....mebbe he can check and see?

can it turn to green ar? ive seen one that turns blue under UV..

it depends on what UV reactive dye they add.

i think the acrylic that came with my casing has that blue tint...

i dunt know, or is it because the uv light shines the purple light

A suggestion, can you spray it with reactive paint like what AllnGap did.

is the paint transparent?

or can use Fluorescent paint....

Cheap RM 10 per bottle

that's not UV reactive acylic, that's perspex.

ICUTE casings usually use perspex for the side panel.
it will glow with a bit blueish colour under UV.

perspex is easier to get scratches and crack easily under stress as compared to acrylic

i guess... my original sidewindow is that material... then.

it has a blue glow... or purplish....

is this perspex material easy to get ?

I think Powerlogic Viper also is using the same "perspex" or whatever things. It will turns blue/purple when flush with UV lights.

Try this, get some tinted and try to light it with UV. If lucky, u will find some tinted will glow.

are u sure it will glow under UV light ?

Go to any glass framing or photo framing shops. RM10 per square feet and the guy will cut for you.

hhmm its the same thing as acrylic ...
so if u go to any advertising store, or even art stores, they shud carry them.
i got an A2 size, 2mm for RM 12.

Thanks a lot for your effort. anyway, the thing about spraying it with flourescent paint, whether transparent or not, is it will affect the clarity of the acrylic.

but if we spray the acrylic it wont be transparent right? like what allngap did to his girfriends' case... it will give solid color... even he is using non-floro white color... i think its going to be the same with floro paint... right? unless u can find flat coat spray that glow... (is there any??)

i think if u spray surely it will not be transparent anymore... it will be covered fully

try using CANDY colours.. they have a transparent effect

if ur willing to change from green under uv to blue under uv...

they hav some so called fluorescent aryclic..use it on my old casing where i throw away years ago...
light nicely under UV.. hahah
come in green, orange which is more commmon.

but if u are looking for 8mm thick.. dont think they hav it. try your luck there..usually come in 2-3mm only for those flurescent type.
and usually they sell in big piece 4X8..
they might sell u if they hav left over small pieces left.

Else try your luck at another shop near Bulatan Pahang, off Jln Ipoh.
is somewhere in between Bulatan Pahang and Jln Kuching.
not been there years. hopefully is still there. due to some heavy road consturction oevr d year.
is located at the row of shop beside a Proton service under d bridge.
just beside the main road from Bulatan Pahang towards Jln Kuching.
Hope u can get d location.

else. u can try get a clear 8mm aryclic and get a Fluroscent color DYE.
place d aryclic into a boiling sink.
add d dye in. cook it for maybe 30min or an hour.
to enable to dye stick on d arcliyc..
hope it work...

I seen ppl tint acrylic. Jz go to one of the car tint shops and buy tint film any colour then tint the acrylic lor

lanevochris: glueing few pieces of acrylic together not an option at all. i'm using this to make a reservoir for water cooling, hence the 8mm thick requirement.

i just saw the 8mm thick acrylic yesterday, but not UV , just plain ol clear acrylic.

the fella told me he needs to cut it using machinery ( rotary, jigsaw or something)

Plasticote UV spray is the way to go....

DYE it is possible..
u dun have to mess with even issue. haha..

glueing few pieces of acrylic together ...dun use cloroform. dry out too fast..
get some patience. get a better grade, PVC glue.
smell like cloroform too. but in thicker medium.
paste evenly. clear away d bubble. bond it and clamp it. left it over nite.
but only recommneded for small surface not so big...
haven try before so big.

8mm thick clear acrylic very easy to find. I've even got 10mm thick here.
Basically anything above 2mm should be using coping saw or machinery adi.

bombman now selling for RM80 i think. but that time i didnt know he was selling acrylic.

Use to go there as a LICT Archi student. They got tons of stuff for archi model building, and I guess case modding isn't that different...

nope, havent went searching yet. the shop i normally go is different from the one u mentioned i think. or issit the same? its just turn off from jalan pasar, very near some pet grooming shop opposite the acrylic shop.
