Hi All,

I'm running a Pentium 805D on a Gigabyte KN8-SLI mobo. Max stable overclock I have is at 3.9ghz with a mem timing of 4-4-4-12 at a cpu voltage of 1.52v. Managed to run 2 instances of prime95 without any thermal throttling.

But when I bump the FSB to get a 4.0Ghz speed my system is unstable, even with the cpu voltage of 1.56...darn not go any higher....jump it cost it cpu pops wink.gif

Your temps are very high. If not overclocked and on stock cooler should be in the region of 38 to 40 degrees. Maybe you should try to cool you casing better.

Anyone here tried to water cool their D proc? I am curious what kinda overclocks are possible. smile.gif

I am using the coolermaster 500watt supply, it have a analogue power draw meter and when the 805 is clocked at 3.9 Ghz, the power draw is around 350watt plus. Crazy eh...

idle temp should be in the region of 30's to low 40's...on stock speed...but if OC then depend on ur volt increase set on the CPU Core...but for 805D the cpu will start to throttle down when temp reaches around 62 C.

Jason,

My idle temp at 3.9ghz is around 40C and on full load with 2 instances of prime95 running its around 60C...just barely under the threshold before the cpu starts to throttle...but if I'm running it at 4.0ghz then on full load it will start to thermal throttle the cpu....maybe with water cooling wink.gif

Taku,

The big typhoon is a good HS + Fan combo, but if you intend to overclock then you will probably need to take a look at ur mobo among other stuff. But I guess the question is, are you planning to OC ur 805? thumbup.gif

hiya taku,

sorry to hear what happened to ur mobo,gc & ram, happens to the best of us sometimes, but cheer up, at least it gives u an excuse to upgrade thumbup.gif

59 C is pretty hot, ur quite close to the thermal throttle limit of the Proc, what they temp taken with ur case open or closed? OC'ed already or still at stock speed?

Mruzian, your load temps are pretty good. my 805 at 3.9 running 2 instaces of prime95 is running at high 50's...but doesn hit the thermal throttle temp... sweat.gif

But if run it at 4.0 and when on load it hit the thermal throttle limit... sad.gif

Air cooled mer...wonder what i can hit with water cooling sweat.gif

Any plans for u to overclock further? a good PSU is so important, my earlier PSU was crappy and i always got voltage drop when on load.
