I'm thinking of getting the blue Bambino v3 for my gf. After discount it was RM 600 in the Orient store at Pavilion, but it is possible I could get him to go down to RM 550.

A quick online search gave me a few sites around RM 500, but it looked like that was the price before GST and shipping. Is RM 550 in the store a good deal?

Might be due to currency weakening? But I think it should be hovering around the rm500 mark. I've seen shops selling the new Bambino at higher price compared to the v1 and 2's so that might account for the price difference as well.

more pic on the new Mako Orient FAA02001B from the internet:

read the specs—confirmed hacking and hand-winding. but still using folded end links, and probably the same lume (so so)......

well, something more on the day pusher from WUS:

"    the movement in the Mako/Ray is old. REALLY old. So old that it didn't support a day function. The whole reason that pusher is there is because they wanted to fit a day wheel, but the movement crown doesn't support moving the date in one direction and the day in the other, like the Seiko 7S26. This is why the Mako/Ray (and several other Orients with day display) ended up with an extra pusher: to operate the day wheel.

When they now finally retire that movement it will get replaced by something newer that has some more typical modern day features, including hacking and setting the date AND day via the crown.

The result of that is that they no longer need to drill another hole in the case, and can lose that pusher. So I think this is just a side-effect of the movement upgrade, not something they set out to do based on feedback on aesthetics. "

I hope Orient will use this new movement into future version of Bambino. If priced competitively, it will put some serious competition to mid-range Seiko and other entry level Swiss brands.

imo the main attraction of bambino is its a nice dress watch for usd100.
a new movement may drive its price up to usd200...then gg orient.
what orient should do is keep same old movement but make a no-date version at same price ... then dw can go fly kites already.

I was looking for the Bambino v3 at Prertama Complex. This shop called Goldblitz was willing to go to RM 500. Lowest I could get him to consider... But I would be getting the display model only.

Does anyone know if there's a cheaper source?

Hi bro, is the Pertama shop good?

speaking of watch shops in KL, I'd like sifus here to point out some areas where we can find watch shops with good selections and good prices. I have limited coverage, I only know areas such as Sg Wang and The Mines (which has a brand new Orient shop front just opened less than a month ago.)

Any recommendations? Maybe even include online sellers other than physical shops would be helpful too.
