Hi, anyone knows about this "new Mako" or not? with hand wound and hacks, and without the extra day pusher!!

Orient FAA02001B

http://www.seriouswatches.com/orient/orien...2001b-5035.html

The Orient FAA02001B is the upgrade of the renown Orient Mako and Ray models. This gorgeous, reliable dive watch with an in-house Orient automatic movement differs from the previous iterations with a new movement (which can be hand wound and hacks) and a new cast. With the Mako and Ray models you had a separate button to set the day, with this watch it's simply operated with the crown. Also the lines of the watch have become a bit stronger.

The FAA02001B is a stylish watch that will be suitable for nearly any outfit and nearly every occasion. You can wear the watch during swimming (although it's not suited for air diving), but it will also look great with a suit or casual wear. It's a true all-rounder with a great design, great quality and a true mechanical in-house movement.

SeriousWatches is an authorised dealer of Orient watches. This watch comes with 2 year warranty, the beautiful Orient box, the manual and the warranty booklet. Worldwide shipping is included.

I liked the pusher, at least it made Mako stood out slightly. Now it looks like some Fossil watch.

haha, i own a black mako, it has happened more than once when the day pusher was unlocked and I didn't notice it for about a day, bad if water accidentally seeps in. so maybe it is best to do away with it.

besides that, can anyone here tell me which Orient diver model has the best blue? Mako, Mako XL, or Ray? there is a video here but I'd like people with the actual units give the account here:

that new mako is a curiousity.
weird its only on seriouswatches, and not even on orient site or WUS.
and that price of 200 euros? zzz.
only a matter of time before orient's version of the 'X' appears on it.

well, something more on the day pusher from WUS:

" the movement in the Mako/Ray is old. REALLY old. So old that it didn't support a day function. The whole reason that pusher is there is because they wanted to fit a day wheel, but the movement crown doesn't support moving the date in one direction and the day in the other, like the Seiko 7S26. This is why the Mako/Ray (and several other Orients with day display) ended up with an extra pusher: to operate the day wheel.

When they now finally retire that movement it will get replaced by something newer that has some more typical modern day features, including hacking and setting the date AND day via the crown.

The result of that is that they no longer need to drill another hole in the case, and can lose that pusher. So I think this is just a side-effect of the movement upgrade, not something they set out to do based on feedback on aesthetics. "

zzz, no wonder.
that person put it in affordables section instead of orient section.
still wished orient would actually put more effort to distinguish the old and new...new dial / new bezel / etc.
but at 200 euros, i think that makes the turtle better value tongue.gif

Yep, agreed. Don't know, while the new movement might sound better, overall I don't think it's much of a change.. Not sure why they never refresh it based on Mako USA though..

i think it is more than a small change - they might have changed to an entire different movement (hence no need separate day pusher), hand-winding, and hacking.
