Hi all,
I plan to custom made some mirror for my house bathrooms. Prefer those with back lighting mirror. Any one know a good mirror contractor? Or you yourself is a mirror contractor, do drop a line here. Thanks. |

This is the common toilet mirror with wooden frame, without backlighting. The contractor nailed wooden board onto the wall before they glue mirror onto it.

I manage to get mine done. Just a simple mirror, not as nice as Xccess's bathroom. But i think the price is very reasonable. At least cheaper than those ready made from Ikea. : )

tx for sharing experience and price on the mirror installation. this topic has serve to my need at this moment. I'm looking any good contractor contact to help me to make a mirror in 3 of my bath room. the master room needs a mirror with the T5 light tube will be hides behind the mirror to get some lights effect. while 2nd and 3rd bathroom will just need a plain and medium size mirror. wonder if any sifu recommended to do this small job for me? thanks |

Just to update everyone. I actually engaged the mirror contractor that enriquelee used. It was a quick and pleasant experience. Discussed price over the phone once. He sent his guy to come take measurement one day and then installed within 10 days. Price-wise not the cheapest but he was ok to do my 2 pieces of mirror.

enriquelee, Xccess - do your mirrors get dark spots (some called it oxidization / de-silver / mirror rot) after some time?
I noticed Enriquelee's alluminium frame seemed to encapsulated the edges, while Xccess's wooden frame exposed the edges and I wonder would that make it more susceptible to oxidization? I wonder whether in malaysian market there is really high quality mirrors that do not oxidize, a least in say first 5 yrs? |

Hi All,
I would like to renovate my condo ~1000 sqft soon. I would like to hire a main contractor to supervise my house renovation. Reasons to hire a main contractor: - He is familiar in this business and therefore has his own preferred sub-contractors who are listen to him, so renovation quality can be assured. - He is experience to give advice on renovation ideas, steps and pre-cautions. - Just face 1 person and he handle the rest. No need me to handle the conflicts between sub-contractors. However, some concerns below make me think twice before hiring a main contractor. - Taking too high commission for his own because he many reno items (kitchen cabinet, tv console, wardrobe, plaster ceiling, wiring, lightings...) to play around. For example, Case 1: If I hire 2 sub-contractors separately to just make wardrobe & tv cabinet for me, wardrobe Sub-Con can only charge me RM5k maximum, TV Cabinet Sub-Con can only charge me RM3k maximum. By paying them separately for 1 particular reno item at such high price, normally they dare not to cheat you because each of them only do one thing and the final product is actually representing their company reputation. Case 2: Similarity, if I hire a main contractor, ON TOP OF HIS personal commissions (says, RM10k), I pay him extra RM8k as well to build wardrobe & tv cabinet for me but he has to find his own Sub-Cons. They have idea about all home renovation and remodel. Some days before I talked with IPC Restoration and Renovation Contractors for my home. I really hapy by their work. Thanks

Ok, this is a little bit out of topic but still mirror related. Does anyone knows how to prevent mirrors from looking oily? I have a large mirror (from floor to ceiling) next to my kitchen and I noticed that despite minimal cooking, the mirror still occasionally looks oily. I have hood which unfortunately is a recyclable type and I can't do anything to change that as there is no outlet for the ducting.

Quite fed up of having to clean it so frequently. 😀 Ow....that means the oil is due to the cooking.Maybe you can ask mirror supplier any coating that can prevent oil sticking. Just like some of the handphone screen protector. |
