Is it really worth to spend so much for a S4, or we can satisfy with Google Nexus?

If get a S4, is it really worth to spend additional 300-400 to get the LTE version since our LTE coverage is in the infancy stage now and it's not stable yet...
*
satisfaction is subjective, different in every user.. Nexus is plain Android, but you get better user experience and fastest update.. While S4 have many bells and whistle, while some call it bloatware.. if you need the extra features, you will go get S4..

it is really worth to spend additional rm300 to get LTE because 2 things.. First, you get LTE connection and second, you get double the internal memory which is 32gb compare to 16gb only in 3G version.. it is normal in other phone model too like iPhone and HTC One, pay additional rm300 and you got double internal memory..

hi im still new to using s4. im facing this problem starting 2 days ago, where i fully charged my s4 but when i place it idle for overnight... 40% of battery lost. how is it even possible? hereby i attach a snapshot of my battery stats. sifu, help me. smile.gif
*
the biggest culprit of battery lost, Screen is the lowest usage.. this looks weird.. have you update your firmware to the latest firmware, XUBMG5 for i9505 or XUBMG1 for i9500?? then install Wakelock Detector to see what apps using the most cpu or trigger the wake..

just search in play store 'Wakelock Detector', or just click this link -> Wakelock Detector-Save Battery

How do you update to the latest firmware? I have similar battery problem like his.. my firmware now is XUAMDK for i9500.
*
your S4 is AP set? Malaysia official firmware dont have XUAMDK.. according to sammobile, XUAMDK is India firmware.. anyway, you still can update the firmware.. try install KIES on your PC, run KIES and connect your S4 through USB.. it should detect your S4 and search for the latest update..

Mine is SME set, registered. Sent in for warranty before also. What? India firmware? Really?
*
Do you root your phone? If not, you can get update OTA by going to Setting > About Device > Software Update.

Else, you can use KIES to get latest firmware

Nope. Can't get update through phone.. Will try kies later.. btw what about the firmware? Since you said its india firmware should I worry?
*
since you said your is SME set, should be no problem with warranty.. but from sammobile, your firmware is India.. thats weird.. anyway, try using KIES to update first.. but, if you know how to use ODIN, you can download malaysia XME firmware from sammobile and manually update using ODIN..

How to use Wakelock Detector?I've downloaded it but I don't know how to read it or what is causing my battery drainage. One more thing my battery drain very fast while I'm using the phone too.
*
easy, just see what process having the most usage is the culprit.. or any process that you didnt know or launch by itself without your command, that might be the problem..

in my sample above, if i logoff skype, i might have better battery usage, since it trigger CPU the longest time without me really using it.. apart from CPU wakelock, you can also check screen wakelock and wakeup trigger.. after you know the culprit, try to adjust the setting of the apps or just turn it off..

Oops. Mine actually reads XXUAMDE. I wrongly read the baseband version. Sorry.
*
XUAMDE is the first firmware release for Malaysia. You should get latest notification to update to latest XUBMG1 firmware, when you connect your phone to KIES. Maybe there is some bug in the earlier firmware to get OTA update.

you should not let other make decision for you.. if S4 can fulfill all your needs to upgrade, why not go ahead.. and i believe, upgrade from S2 will be a big upgrade thumbup.gif

those with i9505 LTE, what's the best modem so far? I'm encountering signal drops once in a while which is getting on my nerves..

is it possible that my non-LTE simcard is the contributing factor to this issue? it's a normal sim card that was cut to micro sim by the way..
*
when i first got my S4 LTE, i also using normal sim card cut to micro sim card, and i always facing this signal drops..

then i went to Celcom service centre and ask for a fresh micro sim card.. after that i dont have signal drop problem anymore.. so, change to real micro sim card might help.. for Celcom, if you want 4G sim card, can only get it either at Celcom HQ or Sunway..

There is no cost to change the card ( is free unlike rm25 for Maxis).  There is no harm using a 4g card for 3g. What are you so worried about???  Why need to cry over it?
I subscribed to the 4gb plan n there is no extra charge using 4g. Using it offer you flexibility in 4g covered areas.  Why not change it?
*
i subscribe to celcom 3gb data plan, and from the speed test, the fastest i get is nearly 7Mbps only.. while some my friend on maxis plan can easily get 14+mbps even on 1gb data plan.. wonder why celcom still practising the speed limit with data plan.. you can try read their FUP here: Celcom First Data Fair Usage Policy

while from celcom online, it also stated my speed is at 7200 kbps only

well since 4G sim card change is free, maybe i can go try it.. hope i will get real 4G speed..

whats the point of getting LTE speed with 1-3gb quota ?
*
you get the info and breaking news faster than 3G user, by a mere speed of light.. google search appear before you press enter.. twitter, facebook and instagram feed come to you before you touch the screen.. but all this didnt change the way you live with your smartphone before.. it still the same facebook you read, same instagram you upload and same tweet you chirping out.. in what way you need more data quota than before?

even for youtube streaming, there is no problem to stream HD content in 3G, so what is the different when you stream in 4G? you like to watch video 2x speed than normal speed?

when u have LTE speed , u then to spend more by streaming more video in ur phone... not only that , u will view more FB photo than usual .... then u might download more ebook to ur phone becoz u get the things faster than before....
*
yes, even then it didnt reach the 3gb quota.. why pay for thing not use?

QUOTE(666devil @ Aug 2 2013, 07:43 PM)
Like that also can? Then y don't u stick with ur modem 56k while others use streamyx/unifi?
Have some sense pls.
*
because there is HUGE different in speed between Streamyx and 56k.. you are comparing snail and cheetah.. 3G is like streamyx and 4G is like Unifi.. you cant even stream youtube properly in 240p using 56k, but you can still get smooth HD streaming on 8mbps Unifi, so what is the difference watching the same HD youtube on 20mbps Unifi? you like watching 2hours movie in only 1hour?

U indeed really sound like a sour grape. U don't/can't enjoy the speed doesn't mean others don't.
To me 7.2mbps ideal speed for 3g,compared to 40mbps tested speed in lte is a HUGE jump to me(ideal speed is 70mbps). Other ppl from streamyx 1mb upgrade to unifi 5mb already very consider very huge jump for them, why not 3g to lte?

But what cares right? U syok with ur 3g u stick with it. We who are enjoying lte will be still happily enjoying it, just don't come and condemn ppl wanna watch 2x speed video sarcastically on lte while YOU don't/can't use it.
*
shocking.gif erks, i think my problem is with data quota only.. i dont know why you guys bashing me while i'm asking uncle benny888 whether he having the highest primest Celcom data plan to get 4G speed, or any lower data plan can also enjoy 4G LTE speed.. i'm giving example of my usage, and you suddenly jump in saying your sense, and i must follow your sense?? i dont blame anyone that enjoying the higher data quota.. i'm giving fact that Celcom indeed make tier speed according to data plan you subscribe..

of course i love speed, and if i want to get the 4G speed, i dont want it to come compulsory with higher data plan.. in Maxis, every data plan can enjoy the highest HSPA+ speed, while Celcom the speed of 3G come in tier of the data quota..

let me stated again.. i want the speed of 4G LTE without upgrading to higher Data Plan.. is that possible with Celcom? or every user of 4G LTE must subscribe to 10gb data plan only can fully enjoy the speed??
