QUOTE(speedfamgirl @ Jun 26 2013, 12:26 AM) There's something screaming 'cheap' all over on Samsung's device... dont know how to explain it I do love XTZ, previously i've owned an Asus Fonepad, that 7 inch size is sufficient enough Yep, let's see what Honami will bring us.. Was late to the Xperia Z party so i didnt get it just because my truthful Xperia Ray still works... I too used to owned a fonepad. Quite good, but the huge Bazel make it very uncomfortable in my pants. Hope this one are small enough to be carried around.

Samsung used to be my favorite, best bang to the bucks even with their horrible QC back then.
NOW surprisingly, Apple and Sony give u better bang for the bucks than Sammy while being beautiful too.

Very good attention to details. Slide out FCC information, rubberized border to stop it slipping, I'm impressed http://youtu.be/PVO5TtmaLSo

QUOTE(speedfamgirl @ Jul 1 2013, 03:01 PM) wow cant believe so much hate in youtube comments about this phone and Sony in general and LOL at the pocket test. if Asus Fonepad can fit my side pocket easily, then this is a no brainer but i'll worry if it will break due to it's thinnest My my what big pockets u have. Lol. For me, it fit easily but not comfortably. But everywhere on the net those westerners can't seems to farthem what we Asian take for granted. A big 7" phone

QUOTE(uzary @ Jul 2 2013, 02:08 PM) i tried to understand more about triluminos so do a little research bout it. so what i understand so far was that this triluminos is a technology that enables LCD TFT displays to show a wider range of colors, and thus to display images that are richer and more vivid. So i was wondering since triluminos is a technology and the screen use it still a lcd tft, which is the same as in xperia z, is it possible that this technology can be put into xperia z via firmware update? The TFT displays on the Xperia Z, ZL, and other older devices from Sony have been criticized for their washed out colors and poor viewing angle. see the comparison photo below, and another thing, the x-reality engine, is an image processing technology that enhances the images and videos displayed on the Xperia Z Ultra. It makes pictures look sharper, reduces noise, improves contrast, and fine tunes saturation.. those who already try the honami mod, and installed the x-reality engine, did u c any significant improvement over the current BraviaEngine2? From what I know, TFT is the basis for LCD tech, an IPS display is a variant of TFT LCD. So far Sony did not use IPS type screen thus resulting in poor visibility. The ZU however look like using an IPS TFT screen. Triluminos display from what I understand is where they change the normal white LCD backlight to help the LED display to show more colour. So most likely it hardware related. But the X-Reality is a software which could be/ Has been ported to other devices

QUOTE(lerijiso @ Jul 3 2013, 03:11 PM) Yup..Sony is weird. In the latest JB update for Xperia S, Extended Standby Mode was included instead of stamina mode. This Extended Standby mode was given to the Xperia P (2012 midrange) in their ICS update whereby Xperia S (flagship 2012) did not get it then, and only received it in the latest JB update. Now in JB, Whenever, the battery is low, it will prompt with a message to activate Stamina mode, BUT, stamina mode is nowhere to be found No Bravia 2 as well. When it comes to Sony's firmware update, can rant on forever. lol. Xperia S do get a new camera module in JB, V too did not get stamina mode but extended standby, but mobile bravia engine 2 remains, somehow I think T/Tx is still with bravia engine 1. The 2011 lines even being updated to ICS never get the New Sony apps. Well a lot of Sony app and changes can be install without rooting, and almost all can be ported. From what I see there's a slight reliability as the apps are not optimized, given that they themselves are late in updating their phone, they could not be bother and just give a barebones upgrades.

QUOTE(joytest @ Jul 4 2013, 05:19 PM) Why would Sony feel threatened by a mod on XDA? Was any specific reason posted? I speculate it has something to do with "proprietary IP" but I would like to be enlightened. Probably they give it out for bug checking, not to be leaked out. Might be bad for marketing.

QUOTE(Stitchie @ Jul 6 2013, 05:58 PM) screen protector is kind of useless in my opinion(plastic is soft), the hardness for normal glass is around 6~7 on the mohs scale, while for metals like iron or steel are below 5, so metal cannot scratch normal glass, let alone processed glass like gorilla glass (unless it's hit really hard) Yeah, but dust, sand, small particles would scratch it though

QUOTE(speedfamgirl @ Jul 11 2013, 03:57 AM) ^ ipad mah...if they release the mini with shit spec confirm ada org beli punya, a cult brand with massive following. even good if there's no iTunes...i probably get one, but nope just because of my massive hate of iTunes. whoa is there even Z Ultra 2? Ehhhh?? I thought The current ipad mini do has shitty spec. ITunes isn't really a requirement, I can get by ipad4 without using iTunes. Few utilities here and there to get by. But still a very restrictive OS. So guys, hanomi @ ZU or XTZ.? Which one the best buy?

Hanomi supposedly got a Walkman audio chip which I can't stop terliur hearing about it. Really really need an awesome sounding phone.
But snapdragon 800 already has a dedicated audio chip. Will Hanomi use this chip or a real Walkman chip?
If not, then I'll get the big screen ZU. Don't mind the lack of flash as the exmor rs 8mp like in the SP sucked at low light anyway. And no amount of flash can help.

QUOTE(sfamlike @ Jul 11 2013, 11:03 PM) ^ now that's nreprocessing .that these phones a dedicated Walkman chip before, what i know last time during SE days they're walkman phone or cybershot phone. i once owned the classic K-750i cybershot phone now where can i read all the in-depth spec just to educate myself for both Z Ultra & Honami? esato, Xperia blog and Xperia Z forum on XDA. is a good start. Mostly it spot on. The old phone during SE days do not have an audio chip. It just being called Walkman without Walkman sounds quality. But the hqnomi supposedly utilize a dedicated audio chip like the one in Walkman Z. Great sound, great camera, big battery, nice looking, the fastest processor make it sound likr a dream come true

QUOTE(ckchan @ Jul 16 2013, 05:33 PM) if this is real then really nothing so special about this honami. except for the new screen, which is consider new technology, the rest of it are really just a spec bump up from XZ. what happen to 1 sony? which should incorporate cybershot camera? so much for "honami going head on with S4 Zoom and Lumia 1020"... Nah, I'm not that disappointed. 1020 is a dedicated camera with phone function, the rest of the spec is meh.not to mention the bumb would not feel great in the pocket nor hand. But Nokia Did make it as thin as possible unlike Samsung S4 zoom. Hanomi is thin, it's a no compromised phone. It would have awesome screen, processor, sound, big battery, IR blaster and all. Expect it to replace your point and shoot camera not DSLR.

QUOTE(speedfamgirl @ Jul 17 2013, 05:14 AM) for me, i think the camera is sufficient for a phone....if i need a high end camera better buy real thing instead. but after seeing the latest photo leaks i feel that this Honami is much bigger & uglier than XZ and no walkman chip? so much for a 'jack of all trades' phone...but master of none. dont mind to wait for next year, hopefully there's a successor for Ray... Well, it got sensor on a lenses like IP5,N4,XV. No mention of Walkman chip as well as pen as stylus. Don't mind the thick bezel as I just reuse my old arc and realised bazeless is an enemy to gesture. Really hard to use map, chrome and so on. This Hanomi would be released on September, we may get it locally by October/November and then by January a new flagship would be introduced. So might as well wait for January right? As for the ray replacement, why don't u go get the V. Really fast, really small, really light, really cheap phone.

Wow. Xperia Z look so tiny compared to the ultra.
What is Sony quoted video playback time? If it's 6 than it good enough I guess
