hi guys, any advises would be very much appreciated..

is it worth resigning from my current job as a mechanical designer (with electronic equipment based manufacturing company) and take a job offer with o&g consultant company? even with the potential of salary cut, i kind of fancies to take the o&g offer as it is what i want to be involved in. but risk losing good references from my current boss. only almost 4 months working out of 1 year bond, i find it hard to breach the contract.. icon_question.gif doh.gif rclxub.gif

Hi! As a recruiter, I encounter instances like this situation wherein you find an opportunity within your contract duration. Some companies sponsor to pay the bond for contractors, while others do not. If you see yourself really growing in that company (O&g consultancy) and working there for a long time, you can definitely establish a strong bond with your employer and will gain better references in the future.

Depending on the level of relationship you have with your current boss, maybe you can speak to him and give him a heads up. However, if you feel that your current boss will influence your future employments then I suggest you stay on and finish your contract and start exploring again after you finish your bond.

There are plenty of consulting companies in Oil and Gas and they are continuously hiring so do not fear that if you let go of this opportunity that it will not happen again.

I hope it helps. smile.gif
