Dear Oil and Gas Players,

Greetings.

I'm 25 years old and graduated with a degree in molecular biology then move on and work for 2 years in this field as a research assistant with skill such as Plant and Epithelial cells DNA extraction, PCR, Laboratory and Equipment maintanence, White blood Cell culture and ELISA. Computer literated on Word, Excel, and basic statistic software like Graphpad PRISM.

2 years into in the research industry, I'm not comfortable with the payscale and stipend provided. My salary is just RM1800 per month.

May I know are there opportunities that I could pursue in this field? I'm willing to start from the bottom. Probably an entry level mud engineer, where I checked from wiki that a degree may not be necessary in this position. Besides that I'm started to read more on oil and gas production ebooks online.

Please advise me, as I'm still young and single and I'm can travel and stay far away for work. With regards to salary, I'm inexperience I'll most probably agree with anything better than my current pay.

Please advise me, I'm based in Kuala Lumpur, University Malaya. Thank you very much.

one of the instruments that is needed to learn. to measure fluid density, remember 8.33 ppg, calibrate with water, the mud equipments, the types of drilling fluid, etc, pls go through the previous versions of this thread. willing to learn and comparing to actual working environment may not for one's mentality & physically to adapt.
with your degree, to reconsider to stick to your core and try opportunities in our neighbour country?

ch_teo,

Thank you for your reply. I decided that in my research field I could venture it during my old age. As for now, I would like to explore the OnG industry. Maybe I'll be posting question from time to time on this thread.
