Dear Oil and Gas Players,

Greetings.

I'm 25 years old and graduated with a degree in molecular biology then move on and work for 2 years in this field as a research assistant with skill such as Plant and Epithelial cells DNA extraction, PCR, Laboratory and Equipment maintanence, White blood Cell culture and ELISA. Computer literated on Word, Excel, and basic statistic software like Graphpad PRISM.

2 years into in the research industry, I'm not comfortable with the payscale and stipend provided. My salary is just RM1800 per month.

May I know are there opportunities that I could pursue in this field? I'm willing to start from the bottom. Probably an entry level mud engineer, where I checked from wiki that a degree may not be necessary in this position. Besides that I'm started to read more on oil and gas production ebooks online.

Please advise me, as I'm still young and single and I'm can travel and stay far away for work. With regards to salary, I'm inexperience I'll most probably agree with anything better than my current pay.

Please advise me, I'm based in Kuala Lumpur, University Malaya. Thank you very much.

Maybe you should try and see if there are any positions in O&G that fits your current skillset and qualifications? hmm.gif

Agree.

The freshies now think that they need a cabinet of paper qualifications.

The best is to join the site and dirty the hands.

It's not so easy to get into O&G without the right knowledge and qualifications. Even those trainee positions have like a few thousand applicants each sweat.gif

Need advice. What companies to look for and what path should I take to if I want to join as entry level? I have degree in electrical engineering majoring in power (so-so results only). Spent the last three years doing business development for an IT solutions company. Don't mind small players, just want to go back to basics.

Already 28, turning 29 soon. Or is it too late? Thanks icon_rolleyes.gif
