My target is to work with Western Gecko under SLB.. But I think next year there's no job opening I must say.

It should be Western Geco by the way, a Gecko is a lizard ....  blush.gif

You can work in the operators as well such a Petronas, Shell or Exxon because there are not a lot of people doing Geomatics and yes, the companies need Geomatics specialist to monitor the vendors such as Western Geco, Polaris, CGG veritas are doing a proper job of seismic acquisition. You also may need to come up with the seismic acquisition plans and programs. Lots of opportunities.

Sorry for my error. Anyway thank you for your comment and advice..
How about the interview conducted by them. Can you explain more about it to me. Their regular questions and activities to candidates.
As far as I know, one question they will ask is that would i use the same plate that were used to served bacon. tq

just to add on to what azraeil said.

why expect to give a 'perfect' answer? Most people think interviews are like school exams with a fixed answer. I blame our education system.
Interviews are to gauge you, and that question is not a technical question hence its to find out your values and your stand. Why dont you answer based on your values and your stand?

If I were Muslim and if I believe in the answer No, I would say No. If they were to tell me my opportunities might be affected because of the answer No, I would simply thank them for their concern for my wellbeing but tell them I do not see their worry as it is a small manageable issue in which I can find a way around. I'll bring one small plate in my backpack wherever I go. Problem solved. (Just because that is what I would be doing anyways. I believe in executing what you promise).

Thats the working world. There are bound to be problems, many small ones that takes our focus away from the main issue. Solve it, solve it for yourself, solve it for your colleagues, solve it for your boss.

side note: whoa they have BACON?!

thank you for your advice sir. I will take notes on things that you have.. Well our education system need to revamp their teaching structure for sure.
My exposure to O&G related things are very minimal as I have not set foot in this field and most of my lecture and learning are solely based on land and coastal works. Less on offshore works. I would be a great honor if you could expose those things to me and dont worry, i already started to read from V1.. smile.gif

Correct. I always advised my younger brothers that being a Muslim is not a handicap. Why must you expect people to cater for your needs just because you're a Muslim? (my words to them, not to you ..). If you are extremely particular about something ... YOU solve it. If you cannot, then maybe you can approach the company and express your concerns. That's the right attitude by the way. I read about all these muslims in UK that demanded this and that (usually those from Muslims countries who emigrated to UK) ... I'd go ... I'd bet you you'd be in the freaking jail if you do this in your original country .... the UK govt are so nice in accomodating you guys .... sheeesshhhh. These attitude really pisses me off. Anyway, dah off-track.

Sama aje. My wife who studied with me in college pun sama style .... ooohh cannot touch a dog, kena samak ... ohhh cannot eat there because they share kitchen ... aiyohhhh manyak susah lah. Very difficult to explain to her that there are a lot of khilaf in the interpretation and if you are too particular, macamana nak travel (which she looooveeessss to do). In fact the other day she said something to me that made me lecture her for 10 minutes ... she told our kids that touching a dog is haram. Apparently that was what she learned in school. I was like ... which school is that? When you say Haram ... it connotes that it is sinful for you to do it. Mazhab Syafie says that a dog is Najis Mughallazah ... and najis has nothing to do with Haram or Halal .... drinking alcohol is haram ... a najis has nothing to do with halal or haram ... kalau tersentuh and if you're really particular about it (I'm not by the way ..), then follow the instructions on how to clean yourslef properly (6 parts water, 1 part soil) .... haiyahhhh ... 10 minutes I had to lecture her .... nasib baik sayang bini oiiii .....

Uhhh.. this omptih thingy is kat mana mana la... semua tempat sama jer... kat Petronas ke, x Petronas ke... sama je... memang ada yg betul2 bagus tp x semua.  They behave like what they do because 'kita' juga yg bodoh...  When I said 'kita' not u and me, but the top management with same mentality kat mana2 aje...  Omptih buat smua betul, tahi pun akan jadi sedap baunya kalau omptih yg jual...

He he he...
Hopefully u will not tell the omptih to jual tahi even if that is to your advantage... brows.gif

But if u r on the top...
just remember to treat your subordinates right je...  place them where they deserve to be and support when u must... bukan put them in the oven and leave them to fry....  I have seen many people in mgmt that do this...
