Hi,

Just after I graduate, I worked in a local company for 7 month as mechanical engineer, doing analysis. Now I just jump to a multinational company and doing the same job scope as piping engineer. But honestly I really want to work on field site especially offshore or drilling. Therefore, I want to ask all the sifus here, Do I need to keep on doing my job and accept as it is, and is piping stress engineer is a good prospect in future? or I need to keep on searching for my dream job as field engineer (drilling/ Hookup) as I'm still young.

Please do help me, Im tired looking for suitable job already..hurm..

Erm Ive been to both sides, engineering and operation. Not everyone will be very comfortable being at offshore for weeks, dont get me wrong, its a fun job but not for everyone. You hobby is basically your job. Working 12 hours long, sometimes even on Saturday and Sunday.

Many youngsters will say "Oh Im young so I can handle the workload and stress at sites" lol. All bullshit. If the job does not fit you, you will feel frustrated all the time.

But I agree with you, you are young so better start exploring. Take risk.

Once you get out from engineering to field operation, its hard to get back, remember that.

If you are proactive right now, I'm pretty sure you will do well as a piping engineer. Aim to be a specialist.

Asking opinions:

Is it hard for a chemical engineering background fresh graduate to enter OnG field with no internship experience in that sector?
*
Nope, its not hard if you keep trying. No problem landing a job here with chem background.

Internship experience in OnG is nothing to me. I seek people who are eager to learn.
