RANKING
5th Place: Nissan Sentra
Poor handling, poor fuel economy, and a shorter feature list outweigh a low price and big back seat.

4th Place: Honda Civic
A weak drivetrain, poor fuel economy, and frustrating nav system sank a solid entry.

3rd Place: Dodge Dart
Sport handling and a long list of features weren't enough to overcome a high price and terrible gas mileage.

2nd Place: Mazda3
An enthusiast's special and fuel-sipper to boot, weighed down by a heavy price tag and missing features.
1st Place: Kia Forte
Handles well, sips fuel, loaded with exclusive features, and priced just right. What's not to like?

I quote this power-to-weight ratio from internet . although p-to-w ratio can't represent all but it can be one of the method to measure car's power.
I don't think Cerato is underpower. power=95.3 KW ,  Weight=1300 Kg , power-to-weight ratio= 73.3 W/Kg.
But sure acceleration not as good as 2.0 car smile.gif

Sound system is good. The Cerato audio system enables you to take your media with you. It has iPod® and MP3 compatibility, a USB port and a CD player for complete audio entertainment. You'll enjoy output with clarity through the high quality 6-speaker audio setup.

there's thread on this forum about cerato vs civic vs focus. Looks like many forumers voted focus. Is it true focus is much more superior and cerato really unmatch by focus quality? both cars price about the same.  rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(gbx @ Oct 3 2013, 01:34 PM)
I was comparing focus and cerato before..and now im a proud owner of cerato..

IMHO

it really depends on your budget and other factors too..

entry level for cerato is 100k which is 1.6 variant while focus is 117k for 2.0 basic variant

if comparing 2.0, cerato full spec (the only spec offer) is 119k while focus 2.0 full spec will be 134k

so,

if u willing to spend 134k for a car then focus 2.0 may be the best car for u

if u willing to spend 120k for a car u can get either 2.0 cerato with full specs or a focus 2.0 which offer the basic specs (both have their ups so choose it wisely)

if u willing to spend 100k for a car then cerato 1.6 may be the best car for u.

other things to consider such as power to weight ratio, handling, cabin space & design, FC, repair/service cost, aftersales/customer service, RV, etc.

at the end of the day test drive all the prospects and pick the one u like and enjoy most cause u will be driving it daily n paying for it for many years to come..

i wish u good luck in hunting cars smile.gif

Just an advice. For those 1.6 owner who need to install leather seat cover, pls take note ur leather seat stitching need to comply with a global standard. There is a special airbag sewing machine and the side airbag stitching line is a special high strength line. This is to ensure airbag could be properly deployed without distortion. Pls do not simply find ah kaw or ah tan leather seat complany to do both of ur front seat cover. For ur safety, find a company that hv certificate to do that

sam: agree. i think thicker tires would help. currently ours too low profile. tires too thin cant absorb. other than that is awesome when u put to 3rd gear and pull away hahahaa
motorman, u got pictures of he front passenger airbag? where will it deploy from? throught the dashboard? or between the glove box and dashboard?
*
The Cerato front airbags deploy trough the dashboard & the steering wheel. Here are two photos for reference.

Does Cerato really received 5 star rating from NHTSA?
I see Kia claim it in their brochure.
And also article from Pol Tan.

But I can't find any other related topic in Google.
Weird.
*
It was mentioned in the Global NCAP news.
Link: http://www.globalncap.org/News/News_archiv...ondaAccord.aspx

Here are part of the news.

ANCAP today released safety ratings for two popular models, each from global manufacturers. A 5 star ANCAP safety rating was awarded to the new Kia Cerato, while the recently released Honda Accord achieved only a 4 star ANCAP safety rating.

The 5 star ANCAP safety rating awarded to the Kia Cerato applies to all variants - sedans and hatches. The Cerato passenger compartment held its shape well in the frontal offset test with pedal and steering wheel displacements well controlled. Driver and passenger contact with the airbags was stable and all doors remained closed during the crash. Good protection was provided for the driver in both side impact and whiplash tests.

While performing well in the side impact and pedestrian tests, the Honda Accord fell short in the foundation frontal offset crash test. This meant the Accord did not achieve enough points to be eligible for a 5 star ANCAP safety rating. The Accord's main shortfall was an elevated risk of injury to the lower legs of the driver.

"The Accord result is disappointing," said Mr McIntosh.

have you test it? Is it true that front passenger do not have seat belt reminder if you dont buck up the seat belt. Plz share.

The Kia Cerato does come in with a build-in warning sound if u don't buckle the seat beat ( Driver side only). It might be a technical issue. Get it check at any Kia SC near you.

On the positive side at least you get a quieter ride without it. Just joking biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
