Morning all gurus and use of GN2! laugh.gif

Anyways, I got a quick question her regarding to battery as lately I found weird battery reading on my set.

The batt seems dropping fast to me, let say from 100 to 95% within 2hours time.

But if I restart the phone the batt reading will back to 98%. Kinda puzzled with this matter as I used to give my phone a hard restart upon fully charge and thing like this never happens before until now.

100 to 95... 5% drop... in 2 hours. i'd think that's good, no?
as for the phone reading going back up after restart... i personally think its kinda normal for that. usually deviate like 2-3%
*
Not so sure tho, but the thing is usually I will restart the phone upon full charge so I get the correct battery reading.

I do understand that if the phone run on heavy task / on for a long time the battery reading will gone abrupt and giving a fresh restart will helps to get back the true reading.

But for my case, the 1st restart and 2nd only like 2.5hrs apart and the batt reading seems fluctuated 2-3%. And it never happens before too. The phone and batt only 2 months old. laugh.gif

indeed, for the battery to drop by 5% after 2 hours is good enough i'd say, and your statement regarding the reading going back up is true as well. so fylon, it's safe to say that you have nothing to fear in this regard.
*
Heh.. Another person seconded mydragoon statement, it seems that I'm worry too much here. tongue.gif

TQ for your input too, pal!

No problem, if you are interested there are various info regarding battery on page 1. Such posts include 'The Battery' under post 3, 'Battery Saver Type apps', 'Charger and Charging Related', and 'Wakelocks and How to Deal with Them' which are all under post 8. Though for me i try to ignore most of those topics because i believe all i need is an entire day of use before charging again, and since i am able to get that then it's all good.
*
Yea. I did have watchdog and Greenify on my phone to help observe and reserve my juice. Just suddenly found this weird phenomena and thus drop a words over this thread see is there anyone "having" the same issue or not. laugh.gif

QUOTE(arslow @ Jun 19 2013, 12:13 PM)
If you don't have any data connection during that two hours, then its bad.  Nowadays my batt drain is about 2 percent for 8 hours. Sometimes four percent for i  dunno what reason.  If I turn on data or wifi, it's as though there's a leak in my batt laugh.gif
*
Hm.. I would say have both data (WiFi + 3G) riding in the background with constant swapping, cause my work required me to work around so sometime will be on WiFi and sometime on 3G.

2% over 8hrs that crazy. Deep sleep all the time? laugh.gif

QUOTE(joytest @ Jun 19 2013, 12:15 PM)
I tried an overnight without charging it, it was about 3-4% and Deep Sleep most of the time. I usually leave it plugged to the AC charger when I'm sleeping.
*
There were few times I got about 20% losses during 7-8hrs of idle usage. sweat.gif Not sure is because of the Telco tower is far away from my place and causing the batt lost as I always max 3 bar of line when I'm at home.

The Note 2 by default has excellent battery life. I dont see the need to use any 3rd party battery savings apps such as DSBS, Greenify, ICS Battery saver, etc. Such apps will not increase your battery life , say by another 1 hour , perhaps only marginal increase. I cane easily get 7-8 hours SOT on 3G mainly ; with WiFi usage 8-9 hours is commonly achieved. In a normal working day, no one will be using their phone 6-8 hours continuously unless you use the phone to work
I have since on my seconds unit did not use any more custom kernels n custom roms - everything is stock. And I am very happy with it especially with the latest official firmware
*
I'm on pre rooted (need SU for some other apps) stock rom, stock kernel too. Normally with my usage starting 7am (unplug from charge) - 11pm (before i charged it again) usually the phone will have 4-4.5hrs SOT with roughly 35-40% battery left. With constantly WiFi & data on.

P/S: Side note though after review written...:hmm: Maybe my Kung-Fu not that good install the screen :D protector

Maybe had to wait for other to try and see before going to full steam ahead and implement tempered glass screen protector...
*
Probably cause of the SP hardness (harder then normal SP and hard to stick to on the curved side) which causing the air pocket IMO. laugh.gif

Morning guys! Eh wanna ask, just a random questions anyone. tongue.gif

Another friend of mine using GN2 too, but he bought his one around 6 months back and I helped him flash in the pre rooted rom last night.

And strange thing is, I not sure but his unit seems got sluggish / lagging once battery saving mode been turn on. This even happens in newly flash system which have no other apps been installed in. As long as batt saving mode on, the animation and performance seems slow, can see it from naked eyes.

Yet, mine seems no diff in term of performance regardless or batt saving on or off. Wonder any sifu here know whats happen.

power saving mode limits cpu to 1ghz if the cpu power saving is selected.

Yea. I knew that, but the thing bit out of track. Where mine and his put side by side and both have FW and power save on, but do a slide to next page the transition lag feeling is very visible. Found it pretty weird, thus drop by here and ask see anyone have this issue or not. laugh.gif

Mine = either power save on / off, the transition smoothness is there.
My friend = only smooth when power save off, but once it go on then transition lag is visible.

Hi bro,

Just to inform that my pal successfully get rid of that the generic mei issues by flashing to latest XME rom (N7100XXDMF2_N7100OLBDMD2_XME). Can get it from sammobile.

What a relief for him. laugh.gif

Hi seems this is prevalent in DME6 and DMF2 firmware. Posted Warning on post 1 itself.

Fylon, usually the problem is BLANK IMEI rather than generic.

Follow the steps in the XDA thread by jakgelap.
*
No problem bro! Ain'y my set actually, my friend. I'm still with DLK5 baseband. laugh.gif

But my pal case is, he got signal from telco (DiGi) but can't have his mobile data to work. And when do *#06#,the imei is the generic type, aka 004999010640000.

So I suggest him try his luck by flash to the latest stock rom and it seems resolve the issue.

Curently he's on,

Baseband :N7100XDMF1
Build: N7100OLBDMD2

So fast so good now.

should be ok if we used stock roms with stock modem. yes EFS backup are must if we ever wanna root and flashing custom roms
*
Lol. I backup mine even I'm on pre root stock room.

Don't really like flash around as I found stock rom are so much enough for so I just go with root for special command.

heard that the note 2's gorilla glass is strong enough on it's own against scratches, but for a paranoid like me, i'm also using the kristall liquid screen protector for the same clarity you get without any screen protector. again i need to thank disasternero for the contact.
*
Lol. I just invested tempered glass SP, kinda paranoid when come to screen scratching, seriously.

I have the iDefense invisible applied on both back and side since the 1st day I owned my gear! laugh.gif And currently using a TPU case that fully covered the chrome area too. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif
