QUOTE(h9s9h @ Nov 21 2013, 10:57 PM) install wins 7 x64 on new ssd drive. may i know which driver to use for bluetooth, intel or broadcom? wlan, intel or atheros? usb, genesys or usb3 or both? U should check which one is yours in device manager on control panel. Then install accordingly. do i need to install driver for intel chipset, intel rapid storage and intel management engine interface? please help me out. thx. For intel chipset etc, yup install it but im not sure about rapid storage tho, some says SSD doesnt need the rapid storage. Can anyone verify it. |

QUOTE(h9s9h @ Nov 21 2013, 11:21 PM) the problem is i've removed the original hdd. then i dont have caddy to fit it just yet. I see, this is another problem then, cant start windows how to install drivers. Haha. tat's why i asked for help. facing "bootmgr is missing" now. cant start the windows. Try to run windows 7 first, then just go to device manager, if it doesnt state u can search on net the ID/code of the hardware. |

QUOTE(mimiko1997 @ Nov 21 2013, 11:44 PM) hi guys, i have narrowed down my options between y410p and y510p, all specs are same, just 14' HD and 15.6 FHD Y510p screen is gorgeous compared to Y410p. I'd pick Y510p over Y410p anytime. i am a moderate gamer, like to play games like BF4, codG, AC4 etc, its it true that y410p 14' hd screen isnt that good? and y510p will has better cooling system cos of larger size? which one do you guys recommend? many thanks U shud check it yourself, regarding cooling, im using y500 yeah this laptop cools down really fast after gaming. Temperature while gaming is also good, max i get is 85'C for CPU, and 74'C for GPU, but thats on ultra setting. If low and medium should be lower than that. |

QUOTE(mimiko1997 @ Nov 22 2013, 11:26 AM) Thanks for your review mate I see, good choice also since it have advantage of the 14" screen resolution. Easier to make ultra settings on that screen resolution. Although I like the superb viewing experience of 1080p, after considering issue of mobility I often have to carry the laptop to office, I think i will go for cheaper y410p Will go to lowyat plaza today after work |

QUOTE(mfahdr @ Dec 7 2013, 07:05 PM) just wondering..is it advisable to update to windows 8.1 to my y400?planning to do so,but i'm afraid that the problems will occur later I have updated to windows 8.1 2 times, and revert back to windows 8. Because of driver issues and all. I know there is 8.1 driver available at lenovos website but i just cant seems to make everything run "smoothly" like on windows 8. Plus im a person who likes everything to be perfect. Didnt like even a slightest error. I did find a few error when i was in 8.1. Forgot what it is already. The purpose i upgrade to 8.1 is i like the new tiles option, but thats just it. Thats the main difference between 8 and 8.1. Since its not that stable, (to me) i opt to stay on windows 8 with full windows update. So far everything runs smoothly. |

QUOTE(mfahdr @ Dec 7 2013, 08:23 PM) it seems like it's not stable yet..i prefer to wait longer to get a better version of win8.1 rather than the error one There are some user here manage to run 8.1 without any problem. But u have to do clean install for each driver which im lazy to do. U can try if u want to. thnks for ur info btw |

QUOTE(ywliang96 @ Dec 7 2013, 11:56 PM) Guys, I may have some problem with the mouse issue on the Y510P. Sometimes my mouse may stuck at 1 spot and straight fly to another spot as I move it twice. This doesnt occur when I plugged my mouse into my deskstop. Does this means my laptop have problem with the mouse? Unfortunately this is the famous issues on Y500/Y510p. For my Y500 it doesnt happen regularly, only a few times. Only way to "fix" is by using external mouse. |

QUOTE(ywliang96 @ Dec 8 2013, 04:08 PM) I haven't really installed anything yet though. But when i restart, it loads up in the lenovo logo for very long. Is it because of the windows? as Im using windows 8 not 8.1 Mine usually around 15-20 seconds from startup to desktop. On windows 8 also. |

QUOTE(mwei0210 @ Dec 23 2013, 03:58 PM) How to keep y510p's temperature low? It can get up to around 35-36'C even when it is idle according to notebookcheck. Apart from the ventilation that could be used, what can we adjust? Underclocking? My y500 usually idling on 46-51'C when on hot day (33-36'C). |
