Just got my y500 from hikari yesterday. Great seller - excellent prices and layan my every pattern as a fussy customer.
I've beem tinkering around with it but never really made any significant changes to the settings because I'm still unfamiliar with the laptop and win8. Any kind sifus here can provide a quick guide on what new owners should do (eg check drivers, download monitoring software, remove bloatware etc)?

QUOTE(arielravenfall @ Jul 8 2013, 04:23 PM) nope. Still don't have the money to buy cooling pad.. why? You spent almost 4k on your laptop and couldn't afford 50 bucks for a cooling pad? This post has been edited by shoograd: Jul 8 2013, 04:50 PM

QUOTE(arielravenfall @ Jul 8 2013, 07:29 PM) have u read what u just typed? Dude, I spent rm4k for my laptop! Of course le my money not enough already... I need to buy food and pay bills too u know? if i buy cooling pad, then 1 month no food liao.. btw, i am doing my best saving money for a cooling pad.. I'm looking to buy the Cooler Master U3... is this okay for my laptop? So buying a RM50 accessory will make you so broke you can't pay for basic cost of living because you splurged on a gadget that costs about 80 times that amount? Buddy, I'd like to introduce you to a concept called priorities, but I'm not your dad and this is a notebook thread, so what the heck. I personally think U3 is a big oversized for the Y500. You could consider going for U2 or U1 instead and just buy extra fans.

QUOTE(atoi4life @ Jul 10 2013, 11:05 PM) I think that problem plagues all gaming laptops, not just Y500. Battery technology just couldn't keep up with the advancement in processing power - heck, if it did I wouldn't have to recharge my iPhone once every 10 hours
