Guys, here are some questions that i think most of us with the y500 single gpu and planning to have the 2nd card want answered.
1) do you think that they will order the removable gt750m at all?

if not, will

2) the y510p will have the same removable graphics as the y500 now?[means will the gt750m of the y510p fit in the slot of the y500 gt750? and is it compatible/same?]

Hi there you can try asking Hikari. She's a genuine re-seller.
*
She was quite blurry about this, she say that the demand for that is not high, so dealer won't order, so do you guys think that it will even come to malaysia at all?

Y510p has its own caddy, the Y500 will not fit. Because y510p is slightly thin than Y500.

Your only option is to wait.
*
Which means that my option has the possibility that they won't even order it at all?
Edit: I've been asking around a lot, using this simply yes and no question, but it keeps gettting unanswered

Lol the powder still stuck to the bottom grating  doh.gif Thanks. So far no disconnection and or random drops. Works normally on my streamyx 1mbps (maybe that's why). Not sure about blue tooth though haven't tested. I think that problem was for Y400 and Y500 650m. The problems they faced seemed to be rectified including touch-pad responsiveness. So far the only touchpad I like better are those on the MacBook Pro. Other problems that persist are some keys are only half lit and the build seems a bit iffy such as scratches right out the box. Other than that there's the white powder which I have no idea what it is.
*
Lemmie tell you what it is, it's plastic or some glu material from the joints that lock the back cover to the mainboard together. Few weeks back I took out my back cover for the first time to install the 8gb cracial RAM and the mSata for my y500, in the process I'd break one of the joints, what i did was I'd superglued it back and put it under the Sun to dry, Then that white poweder started to appear, then I'd noticed that it was coming out from one of the other joints on the back cover. In your case however I think it's because of your lappie's heat [ mine was sun's heat ] so i don't think it's coming from the companents

Hi, thanks I think that might be it. So it is melted glue and will it be a problem for me in the future? Should I take and it for service? Just bought it less than 2 weeks ago =.= How come nobody else has this problem btw
*
Lol, I think it will be if you're planning to take out the cover and put it back in frequently. I have this problem lol, but i tested the other joints of the back cover, they're quite sturdy also...

Edit:typo

according to forum from US user of y510, optimus function only when SLI is disabled... means that if no external GC in ultrabay slot, then only optimus can function.. if external gc insert, then optimus disable, SLI enabled..  rolleyes.gif
*
Actually the whole point of having the y500 is to have SLI, having OPTIMUS in it is just a gimmik, or to me a total joke, I mean look at the big picture, A gaming laptop with good battery life? aww c'mon cool2.gif

Using a y500 primarily to work?? Isn't that a bit overkill?

wasted what? gaming you can, balik kampung also can gaming, working also can , Im an it engineer with lots of VM work. i7 + 8gb ram huge full hd screen really helps, what else can you get with the price og y500? mac book bs lor..
*
Lol, I say wasted as in for the Optimus processor y510p, with optimus you have to disable your SLI for it to work, but the whole point of getting a y500 in the first place is because you wan to SLI it in the first place, hence the ultrabay

Any y500 owners here did a clean win 8 installation on their mSATA SSD?
*
Clean windows 8 an mSATA worked perfectly, but i found out the OEM license in the y500 cannot be detected, OKR will not work also, So i reverted it back to it's original state, since no point sacrificing speed for annoyance.
