I'm looking at one too.

I don't know whether NVidia Optimus would really work or not:

Does anyone know whether the Y510p with single GT750M comes with Nvidia Optimus? If there isn't any, is there any way to switch between iGPU and GT750M?

You spent almost 4k on your laptop and couldn't afford 50 bucks for a cooling pad?

I was thinking of passive cooling (no fans) which is basically lifting the back edge of the laptop so there is better airflow & cooling.
Maybe something like this one?
http://www.lazada.com.my/Cooler-Master-NOT...ack-438428.html
Anyone using one of these & would it be a good buy?
*
No fans? Just get a paper weight or a book or something to lift the back of your laptop so that there's is air flow below the laptop (where some of the vents are). Last time I used a deck of cards to do this lol

Btw, the cooler comes with fans. The CM U series is memang famous for adjustable fans, that is you can adjust the fan position on the cooler itself, to suit your laptop.

Guys, any idea whether any official Msia Lenovo laptop warranty might be applicable in Australia?

I'm talking about the international warranty smile.gif

hi,im planning on getting a y510p this month,so id like to know,is the one with single gpu gt750m 3399 or 3099??or is it 3399 now and will drop to 3099 soon? i read the first page,i might be buying from IT ONE Superstore at 1utama,(cuz i work at 1u oso so might be convinient if anything happen) but they still selling gt750m at 3399
*
RM3099 should be the GT750M version whereas RM3399 should be GT755M version.

IT ONE is probably slow, haven't updated their stocks yet (probably still trying to sell off the older ones)..

very disappointed, that means Y510P can only run 1 harddisk at the same time.. and the current 5400rpm harddisk is one of the bottleneck..

You can always switch the slow HDD with a super fast SSD? hmm.gif

Need to get some info here. The Y510P with GT755M single card comes with a matte display or a Glossy but Anti glare display?

Quite an important thing for me

There are so many variants online shakehead.gif

Actually just now my decision was to get ASUS N56JR because of the nice matte screen and seemingly good cooling performance and the GTX760M graphics card. Was checking out some benchmark comparisons and the difference is that much to warrant a difference of RM600 (note that Y510p with GT755M is RM3,200 and the N56JR is RM3,800)

Decisions...decisions... hmm.gif

Where can I get y510p in low yat plaza? Can I find the latest model with gt755m?

I noticed at other places most shops seem to still have the GT750M version. Best if you look around LYP.

once you try out SSD.

there is no turning back to HDD, so I would say the money is well spend although is expensive.

This is absolutely correct!! thumbup.gif

How's the colour reproduction of y510p display? Is it good for photo editing?
*
If you're serious about photo editing, no monitor in the market is suitable for photo editing unless they are colour calibrated because 99.99% of them are not even properly calibrated by a tool like Xrite Pro or Spyder.

The same goes for Macs with their IPS displays or Dell with their AH-IPS.

From my experience calibrating laptops and desktop monitors, laptops usually have very cold temperatures (bluish) while desktop monitors tend to show greenish tint.

If you're really serious about the quality of your monitor (for example you cari makan with it), go for the Illegear and choose the 95% NTSC matte display, get it colour calibrated and it should be all good.
