Ian Ayre cancels trip to economics conference to complete Henrikh Mkhitaryan deal

Liverpool Managing Director Ian Ayre has cancelled a trip to a conference in Brazil where he was due to discuss football economics in order to pursue the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to Bloomberg.

Speculation linking Mkhitaryan with a move to Liverpool has increased over recent days, with the Reds hoping to tie up a deal for around £20million.

The Armenian international midfielder scored 25 goals in the Ukranian Premier League last season for Shakhtar Donetsk and enjoyed lots of praise after solid performances in the Champions League.

Bloomberg report:

Ayre was scheduled to be on a panel at a conference in Rio de Janeiro tomorrow to discuss economic opportunities for soccer. Instead he’s staying in Europe to negotiate with three-time Armenian player of the year Mkhitaryan, 24, according to the person, who declined to be identified because the deal isn’t complete.

Mkhitaryan would provide Brendan Rodgers’ attack with a fresh dynamic and superb close control.

Liverpool are thought to be hoping the possible signing of Mkhitaryan will convince Luis Suarez to stay at Anfield.

It seems no more (mere) grooming youngsters excuses or (supposedly) brooding 'british' players. Next season we are making serious assault.

there are so many many reasons to be hopeful than to be wishful 'hope' for a next season. cool2.gif cool2.gif cool2.gif
While there is still a gamble on new recruits, at least we aren't throwing hope over 'potential' yet to yield fruit until 4-5 seasons, at least we are taking care of short to mid term goals!! cool2.gif

Suarez is a gone case. Goodbye
*
no, i think suarez may stay

his hissy fit is clearly same as torres when he lamented the fact that we should be at the top fighting for honours & fighting for champions league places & playing IN champions league. we dont deserve & weren't that because our recruitment has been so-so.

He sees it from within. HE knows he has so much time left at the top & to not be involved in top league would be seen as a pity.

The argument may then be why isn't he thinking for liverpool instead? hmm this has been debated countless times. blush.gif

selling suarez now is a bloody mistake. its like telling "hey, we agree we are not there yet & no sooner getting to fight for CL places, well, we rather make money by selling this whiner who wants to go to madrid"

*off man. that's not the way we operate. no one is bigger than the club & so long he is under contract, his football legs is own by liverpool fc

So far, I see no one agree on selling,
but what the club can do, if the player handed a transfer request?

Forcing the player to honour the rest of contract?
*
its time liverpoolfc play mean

We've been pushed around too much in the past, throws tantrum, hands in request & we obliged. maybe in the past we weren't good enough to be having much quality players or grade AAA type to support players that headed out, i.e. torres, mascherano, owen, mcmanaman. maybe we (Lfc) was partially responsible to just rely on gerrard-torres combo or gerrard-owen combo or gerrard-suarez combo. We have been known to be called a 2 man team. oh damn, its always gerrard+ (insert name) again.

Ok. maybe we aren't able to get type AAA but it seems we are willing to get AA or a few graded players (instead of fringe B's, allen??). (Btw you guys know that Henrikh Mkhitaryan deal is all to be sewn up this week right? cool2.gif )

Henrikh's deal would seem that we are probably lifting the "burden" off our star players. i know we shouldn't rely on weather Henrikh will suit the premiership but the philosophy behind rodger's pick would seem, "hey we aren't just always grooming (young) players to be sold".

Whether or not it will convinced the likes of suarez to take notice but we hell wouldn't want to let next seasons opportunity pass us by without a fight. (reasons stated before)

I will tell suarez this, your boots are liverpool boots (you have a contract, we expect you to be a professional. play as you are 100% as always or take a seat on the bench)

No professional will want (or like) to take a seat on the bench esp players like suarez. Every player lives to "play' (maybe not english players like joe cole who would rather flirt with the medical nurses ?? blush.gif ). So i expect suarez to realise we can play hard ball this time too.

I believe Rodgers may means business this time. he has certain shortcomings on tactics but he has learned to adapt quickly against oppositions.

IF shankly was managed suarez, and if suarez pulls a transfer request, i would think shankly will just tear the transfer request in his face. (just a shock value, but knowing shankly he will pull the player aside & give him a piece of his mind that the player will never ever forgets.

he seems to have the pace where the (lumbering) carroll doesn't. Carroll has the physical build but he doesn't seem to use it much to better his advantage.

Henrikh does look a bit too slim to physical english football, no wait what's player we loaned but never took up (from Rmadrid to Dortmundfc)

well whether suso get another opportunity this season, it depends on Rodgers and also Suso to be ready at all times.

he (suso) certainly has the talent, but will have to bide time. The current new structure of rodgers set up; and with the talents rodgers is roping out for, it's doesn't look too optimistic for suso...

but then again, it's football everything to play.

well, rafa still believes suso may have some future in Liverpool (giving him encouragement, suso did say they still stay in contact). I like him and personally I don't see him being featured even this season by rodgers. Maybe a few games towards at the end of next season campaign (or some league cup games)

rodgers mentioned liverpoolfc is in control of the situation. Suarez is & seen as an integral part of the lfc squad set up.

BR mentioned the press never mentioned of suarez love for the city of liverpool & the residents there, all they are always putting forth some headlines that sells papers (& probably just echo other clubs wishes that we lose suarez)

right now i doubt any real value have been offered.

Pepe's form has been declining in recent times.
*
maybe but perhaps it was more of the (adaption) system of play. Mainly the way the back begins when we have the ball esp under rodgers tactics.

he is definitely less protected by the way we organise from the past (2 defensive midfielder) but we have shown by shifting to a more attacking play.

Pepe is amongst the well paid athlete in lfc. on a hindsight getting the new keeper is more or less a precaution, should barca opts to cash in. the 2nd option is to provide reina some competition for one season. after which i'm pretty sure we'll sell reina.

its business for FSG.

i just want to say if suarez is shipped off, no mkhitaryan addition to our squad, and if ronaldo goes to ManU, Bale stays at spurs...

4th placing next season for us will just be a distant memory..

Shakhtar Donetsk have once against denied reports that they have agreed to sell star midfielder Henrik Mkhitaryan.

However, whilst he told press there is no buy-out clause in the 24-year-old Armenian international’s contract, the club are willing to let Mkhitaryan go for €30 million.
alight, as much as i feel the added strength to our overall squad if Henrik comes but Shakhtar's greed to value him at 30mil is way way way too much.

Can I just ask a question of all your Liverpool fans? is there a shop in KL or Selangor where we can buy Liverpool stuff?
My husband had a recent stay in hospital and we want to buy his doctor a present.
This is proving tricky. We know he idolizes LFC, so if we could go somewhere and buy something, sensible or quirky it would be great.
*
in fahrenheit, KL. new balance store.

they have LFc non jerseys if you prefer. i know some older guys prefer tee-like with the LFC emblem. they are legitimate LFc merchandise

or those proper sport shops around, not sure about that not being legitimate merchandise ones. i bought myself 3 seasons back jersey, looked good with names already embossed on. (much reduced priced since it was older season)

QUOTE(elnino @ Jul 6 2013, 07:40 AM)
not that excited with Mkhitaryan though..strategically and economically, i would rather go for honda..Strategically, a proven pass master and a dead ball specialist, at most will cost us only a quarter of Mkhitaryan's. Economically, we'll be opening up a huge Japanese market with Honda's sigining and potentially sponsorship deals with Japanese companies.
*
skill wise, we have seen honda's talent but the fact i would stick in my believe, Mkhitaryan explosive pace is something not to be ignored. I agree while some youtube arent always the best to evaluate talents, (showing the best of best) but as i mentioned the technique behind mkhitaryan's ability shows he is a real deal (apart from the greedy *****)

it's just too bad we aren't able to catch his services. (Mkhitaryan) if borrussia dortmund got his man stroy it true.

to me Mkhitaryan is worth 20-23, ability & talent many much more than andy carroll + (hot & cold) downing

There wont be any english team he should join except being a bloody hypocrite himself (complains english media treatment).

IF his (suarez) sole desire is to change team because the state-of-our club still finding its feet & would like to join another team that was challenging for trophies (ala torres), look we were bitter, but look at his (torres) age and the trophies torres won thereafter.

it won't happen, suarez to another english club. the continent, yes probably.

but i stl maintain, suarez at teh moment, is still a liverpool player. I expect him to report for training once his holidays are done.

if a team like dortmund is interested in mkhirtrayan, he is no "unknown" type of player.

granted he is 'unproven' in premiership, but his pace alone reminds me of torres in his hey days and mkhirtrayan operates from midfield!!

reality strikes, we have no CL to offer too, so in hoping mkhirtrayan to reject dortmund's offer (CL finalist btw!) is like wishful thinking. sad.gif
