Hey guys, I have RM1000 budget for a tablet. Currently looking at nexus 7 but I wonder how does other non-mainstream brand tablet at the same price point compare to nexus 7?
Also, if I increased my budget to about RM1500-RM2000 what other brand/models can I consider? (with better processor than Snapdragon S4)

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Jul 30 2013, 11:35 AM) Are you looking at the current Nexus 7 or waiting for the 2nd generation Nexus 7? The 2nd generation one. QUOTE(NightFelix @ Jul 30 2013, 12:16 PM) if 7" is your size, the NEW Google Nexus 7 II is a Good choice. Actually my preference would be 7" because its more portable, though I wouldn't mind 10". But my concern is processing power. As I see snapdragon s4 has been out quite a while, I'm sure there are other tablets with better processor?

QUOTE(NightFelix @ Jul 30 2013, 02:00 PM) Snapdragon S4 is the Best processor of 2012. So is not really outdated yet. Similar like the one using in LG Nexus 4. I know its not outdated yet since Google used it in the new nexus 7. But I'm just curious if there are better ones out there..

QUOTE(Azureknight94 @ Jul 30 2013, 02:49 PM) Currently in android tablets the nexus 7 probably has the best proc. The S4 pro in it is not like the nexus 4.it uses LPDDR3 and krait 300 cores instead of krait 200 which are found in the nexus 4. Basically in the nexus 7 you get an underclocked S600. If you want better than this then have to wait I guess. Probably nexus 10 or upcoming tegra 4 tablets. Tbh I have no idea why it seems that android tablets don't always get the best proc available or if you're into phablets there's the xperia z ultra. 6.4 inches with s800 I didn't know that. I thought it was using the same cores as nexus 4. That's why was wondering why would they use the same proc as Nexus 4 in the new version of tablet. QUOTE(billy_overheat @ Jul 30 2013, 02:52 PM) Exactly what I wanted to say. But, people are chasing blindly on the spec. Don't we know that, the software matters? What did you wanted to say? The software matters, yes. But software/rom can be tweaked or changed whereas hardware is pretty much permanent. So what I'm thinking was that get the better proc now, so that it could update and such in the future..

QUOTE(billy_overheat @ Jul 30 2013, 05:10 PM) S4 pro is seriously good enough for Android, for these 2 years at least. with TRIM support in 4.3 now, plus rumours saying that 5.0 will be even tweaked for better support in not so good devices. http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/07/29/go...vice-slowdowns/And the one in new n7, Krait 300 and LPDDR3 ram, proved to be underclocked s600, not good enough? Cores don't mean that your device will be faster, greater. Psshh, look at big.LITTLE. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/40039-...snapdragon-600/Look at nexus 10, dual core, a15 architecture, it flies. Yep, exactly, "for these 2 years". But I'm looking for the best proc in hopes to go beyond these 2 years. I don't intend to buy new tablet every 1 or 2 years. Nobody say new n7 not good enough..I was just asking if there was any better ones in the market currently.. Also didn't mention about more cores=better.. Anyway thanks for your opinion..

1. Any brand as long as the tablet is reliable 2. Budget rm200 3. Specs - whatever the best rm200 can get me. At least 7 inch and above(10" preferred) screen 4. What you need in the tablet (Casual browsing/light simple games like candy crush, read news etc)
Budget can stretch a little if I can get more bang for buck.
Thanks in advanced
